HADLEY, Mass. – Over 1,600 student-athletes have been named to the 2023 NESCAC Spring All-Academic Team. To be honored, an individual must have reached sophomore academic standing, and be in good standing in their sport with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 or equivalent on a 4.0 scale. Transfers must have completed one year of study at an institution. Lists of All-Academic honorees are provided by the athletic departments at each institution. The cumulative GPA on record as of April 1, 2023 was used to determine eligibility for the honor.
Of the student-athletes to garner All-Academic honors this spring, 199 earned both All-Academic and All-NESCAC accolades and 84 individuals were named to both the All-Sportsmanship and All-Academic Teams. A total of five student-athletes were named to all three squads: Mary Kate McGranahan (Amherst Women’s Track & Field), Isaiah Izzo Lizardi (Middlebury Men’s Track & Field), Nathalie van der Reis (Middlebury Women’s Tennis), Augusta Burhans (Wesleyan Women’s Track & Field), and Jack Davis (Williams Men’s Track & Field).
The All-Academic Team also includes the following individual award winners from this spring:
- Baseball Player of the Year: Kyle McCausland, Middlebury
- Baseball Pitcher of the Year: Alex Price, Middlebury
- Baseball Defensive Player of the Year: Ozzie Fleischer, Tufts
- Women’s Golf Co-Player of the Year: Jessica Huang, Amherst
- Women’s Golf Co-Player of the Year: Catalin Yturralde, William
- Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Year: Jane Earley, Middlebury
- Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Year: Erica Barr, Middlebury
- Softball Defensive Player of the Year: Josie Steinberg
- Clarence Chaffee Sportsmanship Award: Chase Cohen, Williams
- Women’s Tennis Player of the Year: Nika Vesely, Wesleyan
- Women’s Tennis Sportswoman of the Year: Tilly Rigby, Tufts
- Men’s Track & Field Most Outstanding Performer: Luke Botsford, Tufts
- Women’s Track & Field Most Outstanding Performer: Grace Devanny, Wesleyan
