HADLEY, Mass. - The NESCAC announced the 2023 Women's Rowing awards on Thursday. The 10-member squads are comprised of individuals from the league's eight teams and based on each team's finish at the NESCAC Championship held on May 12 at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
Williams, the NESCAC Champion, placed four individuals on the All-NESCAC First Team with Erin Barry, Emily Hugo, Julia Lim (coxswain), and Isabel Mikheev all receiving recognition.
Tufts, the NESCAC Runners-Up, was represented by Lucy Howell, Summer Maxwell, and Reilly Uiterwyk. Alley Johnson and Zoe Tiffin of Trinity along with Bates' Katarina Dickson rounded out the First Team selections.
Tufts head coach Noel Wanner and Williams head coach Paula Thoms share the NESCAC Women's Rowing Coach of the Year honor. Wanner earns the accolade for the first time in his eight years at the helm of the Jumbos program. Wanner led Tufts to NESCAC Runners-Up honors for the second consecutive season and back-to-back berths to the NCAA Championship. In 2022, the Jumbos returned to the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2005.
Thoms garners the honor in her first season directing the Ephs. She led Williams to its 11th NESCAC title and first since 2016. The Ephs earned the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Rowing Championships and will be joined by fellow NESCAC boats - Bates, Tufts, and Wesleyan. The NCAA Championships will be held May 26-27 at Camden County Boathouse in Pennsauken, N.J.
