HADLEY, Mass. - The NESCAC announced the 2023 Men's Rowing awards on Thursday. The 10-member squads are comprised of individuals from the league's eight teams and based on each team's finish at the NESCAC Championship held on May 12 at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
Williams, the NESCAC Champion, placed four individuals on the All-NESCAC First Team with Nick Ambeliotis, Owen Maier, Tad Montesano, and Isabell Shah (coxswain) all receiving recognition.
Wesleyan, the NESCAC Runners-Up, was represented by Oliver Diamond, Joseph Kagan, and Emmett Nunes. John Griffin and Ryna Hankins of Tufts along with Trinity's Chad Obrey, Jr. rounded out the First Team selections.
Williams head coach Marc Mandel was voted as the NESCAC Men's Rowing Coach of the Year by his peers. Mandel, who is in his sixth season directing the Ephs, garners the honor for the third consecutive season after guiding Williams to its third straight NESCAC title and a berth to the IRA Division III National Championship set for Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J. from June 2-4.
