HADLEY, Mass. – The NESCAC announced its women's golf awards for the 2022-23 season. Jessica Huang of Amherst and Catalin Yturralde of Williams share the Golfer of the Year honor while Euna Lee of Williams is the Rookie of the Year and Amherst head coach Elizabeth Davis is the Coach of the Year in a vote of the conference's head coaches.
Huang, the 2022 Rookie of the Year, also earned a spot on the All-NESCAC First Team for the second year in a row. Huang did not finish lower than third all season. She was the medalist at the NESCAC Fall Qualifier (74-73-147) and finished second at the NESCAC Championship (74-74-148) to help the Mammoths win the conference title in back-to-back seasons. Huang and the Mammoths are currently competing in the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship. Huang is the second consecutive Mammoth to be named the NESCAC Golfer of the Year, joining teammate Gihoe Seo.
Yturralde also earned a spot on the All-NESCAC First Team for the second straight season. She fired rounds of 74 and 71 (145) to earn medalist honors at the NESCAC Championship where the Ephs were the NESCAC Runners-Up. Yturralde also shot the lowest round (69) at the NESCAC Fall Qualifier and was one of six individuals selected to compete in the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship. Yturralde is the fifth Eph to garner NESCAC Golfer of the Year honors.
Lee, who was also selected to the All-NESCAC Second Team, is the fourth Williams golfer to be named NESCAC Rookie of the Year. Lee tied the Williams school record 36-hole total (142) with a pair of 71s at the Martin and Wallace Invitational at Cortland (N.Y.) Country Club to help the Ephs win the event. Lee placed sixth at the NESCAC Fall Qualifier (77-76-153) and tied for fifth (79-75-154) at the NESCAC Championship.
Davis repeats as the NESCAC Coach of the Year and earns the honor for the third time in her career. Davis guided Amherst to back-to-back NESCAC titles, the first two in program history, and a second straight appearance in the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship.
