HADLEY, Mass. – The New England Small College Athletic Conference announced the 2022 Women's Rowing All-NESCAC Teams. The 10-member squads are comprised of individuals from the league's eight teams and based on each team's finish at the NESCAC Championship held on May 8 on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
Bates sophomore Lucy Del Col (coxswain), seniors Lillian Kinder and Sophia Marota, along with junior Casey Winter represented the NESCAC Champions. The Bobcats won their fifth straight conference crown and seventh overall.
Seniors Karen Dooley and Alicia Heia, along with graduate student Sam Lazar represented Tufts, the NESCAC Runner-Up, on the All-NESCAC First Team. Lazar earns her third all-conference citation after previously being honored in 2021 and 2019 as a member of the Williams women's rowing squad. Senior Summer Dow and sophomore Zoe Tiffin of Trinity and senior Liz Ostermeyer of Williams rounded out the women's First Team honorees.
Bates head coach Peter Steenstra was voted as the NESCAC Women's Rowing Coach of the Year by his peers. Steenstra earns the honor for the eighth time since taking over the helm of the Bobcats program in 2009. Steenstra led Bates to its fifth straight conference title and seventh overall. Bates also earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Rowing Championship which the Bobcats have won four straight years and five times overall.
