HADLEY, Mass. – The New England Small College Athletic Conference announced the 2022 Men's Rowing All-NESCAC Teams. The 10-member squads are comprised of individuals from the league's eight teams and based on each team's finish at the NESCAC Championship held on May 8 on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
Williams placed four individuals on the All-NESCAC First Team, with senior Piper Higgins (coxswain), first-year Owen Maier, and juniors Tad Montesano and Gus Nordmeyer all receiving recognition. The Ephs repeated as the NESCAC Champion and won the title for the 10th time overall.
Bates, the NESCAC Runner-Up, was represented by seniors Robert Sobolewski, Steven Sparks, and Espen Wheeler. Tufts sophomore John Griffin and junior Alex Mykel, along with Trinity senior Nicholas Filosa, rounded out the men's All-NESCAC First Team selections.
Williams head coach Marc Mandel was voted as the NESCAC Men's Rowing Coach of the Year by his peers. Mandel, who is in his fifth season directing the Ephs, garners the honor for the second straight year after guiding the Ephs to their second consecutive NESCAC title and a berth to the IRA Division III National Championship set for June 3-4 on Mercer Lake in West Windsor, New Jersey.
