HADLEY, Mass. – The NESCAC Champion Amherst Mammoths swept the NESCAC Women's Golf individual awards. It is the second time in the history of the NESCAC awards (since 2015) that one institution has won all three honors.
Amherst first-year Gihoe Seo was selected as the NESCAC Golfer of the Year while classmate Jessica Huang was named the Rookie of the Year. Amherst head coach Elizabeth Davis was voted as NESCAC Coach of the Year by her peers.
Seo is the first Mammoth to garner the Player of the Year honor. She was the individual medalist at the NESCAC Fall Qualifier, carding a two-day total of 141. She posted an even-par 71 on the first day and one-under 70 on the final day at Nonesuch River Golf Club in Scarborough, Maine. The Mammoths won the fall qualifier and the right to host the spring championship event. Seo finished in a tie for fifth (77-78-155) at the NESCAC Championship on May 1 at Amherst Golf Club to help the Mammoths win their first-ever NESCAC title.
Huang is the third Amherst golfer to be named the NESCAC Rookie of the Year and the first since 2017. She shot even-par (71) for the final round of the fall qualifier and finished two strokes back tying for second place (72-71-143). Huang was the medalist at the NESCAC Women's Golf Championship on May 1. She recorded back-to-back rounds of 73 at the Amherst Golf Club to lead the Mammoths to the program's first NESCAC Women's Golf title.
Davis, who is in her seventh season at the helm of the Amherst program, garners the Coach of the Year honor for the second time in her career (2017). Davis led the Mammoths to their first NESCAC title and an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship.
