KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Wesleyan senior Sam Peek took home First Team All-American honors, as announced by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). With this most-recent honor, Peek joins Leo Jones '02 (2001-02 d3hoops.com Third Team All-American) as the second Cardinal in program history to earn All-American honors.
Earlier this month, Peek became the program's first-ever NESCAC Player of the Year honoree is now the program's first-ever First Team All-American. He was also awarded All-NESCAC First Team, Region 1 Player of the Year and First Team and District 1 Player of the Year and First Team honors.
Peek led the 2021-22 Cardinals in scoring (17.9 ppg) and rebounding (7.0 rpg) while shooting 50.3 percent from the floor. He ranked Top 20 in the NESCAC in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, assists and steals while his 17.9 points per game was fourth-best in the league.
The senior had a pair of 30-plus point games including a career-high 37 in a triple overtime 94-85 win at Amherst that saw him go 14-for-25 from the floor and 5-of-7 from 3-point range. He also scored 30 on an impressive 14-for-19 shooting against Colby late in the regular season. Peek rattled off a streak of 15 straight double digit scoring games while he scored 20+ five straight games from December 9 through January 3.
