Seniors Henry Vetter of Trinity College and Scott Gyimesi of Tufts University were named to the 2025-26 Academic All-America Men’s Basketball teams announced by the College Sports Communicators organization. The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Vetter and Gyimesi are the 34th and 35th NESCAC men’s basketball players to earn Academic All-America honors. Their selections raise the NESCAC overall total to 429 Academic All-Americans in the history of the conference.
A film studies major with a 3.55 GPA, Vetter adds his Academic All-American selection with CSC Academic All-District, NESCAC All-Academic, and NABC Honors Court honors. Vetter is the second Trinity men’s basketball player to earn CSC Academic All-America honors, joining Keith Wolff (1995).
Vetter helped lead the Bantams to their third straight NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship Final Four, earning All-America honors from D3hoops.com (third team) and the NABC (second team). The guard was also named to the NABC All-District First Team, D3hoops.com All-Region First Team, and NESCAC All-Conference First Team.
Vetter averaged 14.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.6 steals as a senior. He finished his career as the program's all-time leader in games played (122), three-point field goals made (243), and free throw percentage (.872), and ranked third in career points (1,718), sixth in field goals made (560), and seventh in career assists (374).
Gyimesi earns his second Academic All- America® honor and moves from the second team last year to the first team this season.
An economics major from Fair Haven, New Jersey, Gyimesi carries a 3.91 grade point average. He has also earned minors in finance, history and architectural studies. He is a three-time Academic All-District® Men's Basketball Team member, as well as a NESCAC All-Academic Team recipient three times (3.50 GPA+). Gyimesi has been on the Dean's List at Tufts every semester and has been involved with the Tufts Real Estate Society, the Tufts Investment Club, and the Tufts Economics Society.
For the second year in a row this season, Gyimesi was named as one of 10 finalists nationally for the Jostens Trophy. Presented annually to the most outstanding men's and women's Division III basketball players of the year, the award focuses on three major criteria: basketball ability, academic prowess, and service to one's surrounding communities.
A senior captain of the Jumbos in 2025-26, Gyimesi earned NESCAC, D3hoops.com Region 1, and NABC District 1 Player of the Year honors. He also earned All-American status from D3hoops and the NABC. He overcame a late-season injury to help the Jumbos to a historic finish, as the 2025-26 team became just the second at Tufts to advance to the NCAA Tournament "Elite 8". The Jumbos finished with a 23-6 record, matching the school mark for victories in a season. Gyimesi averaged 15.5 points and 9.1 rebounds per game, while shooting 55 percent from the field. He led NESCAC in rebounds, was third in field goal percentage, and fifth in scoring. Gyimesi finished his career as Tufts' all-time leading rebounder with 949, and scored 1308 points (13th all-time).
In the community, Gyimesi has been a Civic Life Ambassador for the team, leading the Jumbos' civic initiatives. He has also volunteered at Greater Boston Food Bank, participated in the Tufts Day of Service (community cleanup) and is a member of the university's Orthodox Christian Fellowship.
