HADLEY, Mass. – Connecticut College junior midfielder Augie Djerdjaj has been voted as the NESCAC Player of the Year by the league's coaches. Djerdjaj is the fourth Connecticut College player to win the award, all since 2013 (Billy Hawkey – 2013, Pat Devlin – 2016, A.J. Marcucci – 2018).
Djerdjaj, who also earned a spot on the All-NESCAC First Team for the second season in a row, helped the Camels claim the No. 1 seed in the NESCAC Men's Soccer Championship and host the semifinals and final for the first time in program history. He has tallied eight points on three goals, all game-winners, and a pair of assists in 12 games played. The Camels reached the NESCAC Championship match for the first time in program history following a 1-0 win over No. 7 Colby in the semifinals and received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Connecticut College and will host first and second round action.
Colby sophomore Ethan Franco is the first Mule to be named the NESCAC Rookie of the Year since the award was first handed out in 2000. Franco helped Colby reach the NESCAC Semifinals for the second time since 2018. He ranks fifth among the conference scoring leaders with 18 points on eight goals and two assists.
Wesleyan head coach Geoff Wheeler is the NESCAC Coach of the Year for the third time (2005, 2009) in his 23-year career at the helm of the Cardinals. Wheeler led the Cardinals to a 10-3-3 mark and the No. 5 seed in the NESCAC Championship.
