Dyrkacz of Williams Claims Swimmer of the Meet
HADLEY, Mass. – The NESCAC announced today the 2010-11 Men's Swimming and Diving All-Conference Team. The top three finishers in each event at the 2011 NESCAC Men's Swimming and Diving Championship received All-Conference recognition.
Williams senior Paul Dyrkacz (Wilbraham, Mass.) was named Swimmer of the Meet following a set of record-setting performances. Dyrkacz established new conference times in the 200- and 400-yard IM along with the 200-yard Breaststroke. He was also part of the Ephs' winning 400-yard Freestyle Relay team, as Williams won the NESCAC crown for the 10th time overall, over Amherst by 127 points. Amherst senior Alex Fraser (Willowbrook, Ill.) earned Four Year High-Point Swimmer honors. Fraser was a three-time winner in the 200- and 500-yard Freestyle over his career at the conference meet.
Rookie Johann Schmidt (Nanuet, N.Y.) of Tufts claimed Diver of the Meet after winning the 1- and 3- meter Diving events. Senior teammate Trevor Stack (Northbrook, Ill.) garnered the conference's Four Year High-Point Diver award.
Williams head coach Steve Kuster was the choice among his peers as he was named Swimming Coach of the Year for the second time in the last three years. It is the fifth time that Kuster has been honored as the men's Coach of the Year. Brad Snodgrass of Tufts earned Diving Coach of the Year for the first time in his career. Snodgrass was previously named women's diving Coach of the Year in 2007 and again in 2008.
