WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Middlebury sophomore Courtney Mazzei (Larkin Valley, Calif.) fired a one-over round of 72 on Sunday to lead the Panthers to the 2008 NESCAC Women's Golf Tournament title at the Taconic Golf Course in Williamstown, Mass. The NESCAC Women's Golf Tournament is a one-day event held in conjunction with the Williams Fall Classic. It is the first NESCAC tournament title for Middlebury, as Williams had won the previous two events.
Middlebury was first among NESCAC teams participating at the Williams Fall Classic, followed by Williams, Amherst and Bates. The Panthers were also first among all teams competing at the Williams Fall Classic, with Mazzei carding the best two-day score to earn medalist honors.
Middlebury shot a two-day total of 642, sparked by a 317 on the second day of play. St. Lawrence placed second (654), followed by Mt. Holyoke (657), Williams (657) and Amherst (660).
