Williams of Hamilton
Earns Second-Straight Player of the Year Honor
HARTFORD, Conn. – Senior
Brian Williams of Hamilton College earned medalist and Conference
Player of the Year honors for the second consecutive year after
posting a one-under par 70 to lead Hamilton to the NESCAC title at
the 2003 NESCAC Golf Championship. The two-day tournament at the
Taconic Golf Course in Williamstown, Massachusetts was limited to
one day of competition due to weather.
Williams' teammate Chris Pike shot
a three-over 74 for the tournament's second best score earning the
freshman NESCAC Rookie of the Year honors and a spot on the
all-conference first team. Joining Williams and Pike were Sean
Jules and Mike Valentine of Amherst and Bryan Harmon of Williams.
Jules and Valentine finished with rounds of 76 and 78 respectively
to lead Amherst to a second place team finish.
Second year coach Al Highducheck of
Hamilton was named NESCAC Coach of the Year by his peers after
leading the Continentals to their first NESCAC Championship since
1998.
The four players tied in sixth
place, with an eight-over 79, and all six players tied for tenth
with a round of 80 were named to the all-conference second team.
