Colby's Record-Breaking Season Ends in NCAA Super Regionals

GLASSBORO, N.J. – The Colby College softball team saw its historic season come to an end on Friday afternoon, falling 3-0 to Rowan University in Game 2 of the 2026 NCAA Division III Softball Super Regional at Rowan Softball Field.

Rowan (42-9) struck early with a two-run homer in the top of the first inning and added another run in the third to build a 3-0 advantage. Colby (30-14) threatened throughout the afternoon, collecting seven hits, but was unable to push a run across.

Senior Carissa Cassidy paced the Mules offensively with a pair of hits, while senior Emma Burnham, sophomore Avery Lyman, senior Victoria Ramirez, senior Kathryne Clay, and sophomore Julia Berry each added a hit.

Colby's best scoring opportunity came in the third inning when Cassidy and Burnham opened the frame with back-to-back singles before Lyman loaded the bases with a two-out hit. Rowan escaped the jam with a groundout to preserve the shutout.

First-year Sharlotte Stazinski (10-7) took the loss in the circle after allowing three runs, two earned, over 2.2 innings. Sophomore Sophia Meade was strong in relief, surrendering just one hit over the final 4.1 innings while striking out two.

The appearance in the Super Regionals capped another successful season for the Mules, who reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history and finished with a school record 30 victories.
