Every Tuesday during the outdoor track & field season leading up to the NESCAC Championships, the conference will announce its men’s and women’s athletes of the week.
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Henry Alexander – Williams – Jr. – Portland, Ore.
At the Bison Outdoor Classic, Alexander finished fifth overall and was the second-best Division III athlete in the 3000-meter Steeplechase. Alexander posted a personal-best time of 9:02.46, which ranks fifth in Division III.
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Donovan Koukal-Kollie – Trinity – Jr. – Suffield, Conn.
Koukal-Kollie won the triple jump at Conn. College’s Silfen Invitational. The junior registered a leap of 14.37m (47-1) on his first attempt. The mark ranks 20th in Division III.
Women’s Track Co-Athletes of the Week
Annika Paluska – Williams – So. – Glastonbury, Conn.
At the Bison Outdoor Classic and going up against Division I and II athletes, Paluska placed fourth in the 800 meters with a personal-best time of 2:07.89, which ranks first in Division III. Paluska was the only Division III finisher in the top five in the event.
Charlene Peng – Williams – Sr. – Franklin, Mass.
At the UMass Commonwealth Invitational, Peng posted a personal-best time of 10:32.21 to win the 3000-meter Steeplechase by 12 seconds. The senior’s time leads all Division III athletes.
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Elysse Cumberland – Tufts – So. – Simsbury, Conn.
At the Tufts Spring Stampede, Cumberland won the triple jump and long jump events. The sophomore posted the winning mark in the triple jump (12.14 meters/39-10) on her second attempt. Cumberland won the long jump with a mark of 5.77 meters (18-11.25) on her final attempt. The triple jump mark ranks second among Division III competitors, while the long jump mark is sixth overall.
