The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced its men's 2026 Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-America Team and it features four NESCAC student-athletes. Amherst's Ben Davis was named to the First Team. Colby's Levi Biery and Quinn Hampson of Tufts garnered spots on the Second Team while Zachary Liu-Walter of Williams was a Third Team selection.
The Academic All-America honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined athletic and academic achievements. To be nominated, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at their institution and a large contributor on the team during the season.
A middle distance runner, Davis earned a spot on the team for the second consecutive year. A neuroscience major with a 3.99 GPA, he finished 19th in the region in the 400 meters (49.27), fifth in the region in the 800 meters (1:51.93), and helped earn second in the region in the 4x400 meter relay (3:12.68) during the outdoor season. He earned All-NESCAC and USTFCCCA All-Region recognition for his 800 meters performance, All-NESCAC recognition for his 4x800 meter relay performance, and USTFCCCA All-Region for his 4x400 meter relay performance.
During the indoor season, Davis earned All-American First Team honors for his 800-meter contribution to the distance medley relay at the NCAA Indoor Championships, where the relay took second place. Davis was ranked 18th in the region in the 400 meters (49.77), second in the 800 meters (1:52.44), and second on the distance medley relay team (9:41.76). Davis also picked up USTFCCCA All-Region recognition this past indoor season in the 800 meters and part of the distance medley relay.
Biery, an economics and history major with a 3.78 GPA, was a three-time NESCAC All-Academic selection. In 2026, Biery was a three-time All-American, the Northeast Region Men's Track Athlete of the Year, and a four-time All-Region honoree. He finished his career owning three Colby school records.
Hampson, who graduated with a 3.74 GPA in mechanical engineering, helped Tufts win the NESCAC Men's Cross Country title and then finished fifth overall at the NCAA Division III East Regional with a career-best 24:36.8. The senior posted career-best times in the 1000 meters and mile at the 2026 New England Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships and helped the Jumbos' distance medley relay to a 10th place finish at the NCAA Championships, earning All-American honors. In the spring, Hampson was one of the best 1500-meter runners in the nation as he posted a personal-best time of 3:46.29 at the MIT Final Qualifier to win the event and secure a spot in the NCAA Championships. At the NCAA meet, he qualified for the finals, running a 3:46.48 in the 1500-meter finals to earn fifth place and All-American accolades.
Liu-Walter, a psychology major with a 3.88 GPA, earned his first CSC Academic All-America honor after excelling both on the track and in the classroom, adding to his two-time USTFCCCA All-Academic career honors. During the indoor season, he finished with the fastest 800m time (1:50.99) in the Mideast Region and helped Williams earn a sixth-place finish in the distance medley relay at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. He collected All-America and all-region honors for his efforts. During the outdoor season, he led the Mideast Region in the 800 meters with a school-record time of 1:49.67 before placing ninth in the event at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. Earlier in the spring, Liu-Walter also claimed the NESCAC title in the 800 meters. Liu-Walter concludes his Williams career on the track as a two-time USTFCCCA All-Region selection, an All-American, a six-time NESCAC All-Conference performer and the program's outdoor 800-meter record holder.
