NESCAC Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week
Bridget Finley – Amherst – Sr. – A – Bronxville, N.Y.
Finley scored five goals as the Mammoths rallied from a five-goal deficit to defeat No. 2 Tufts, 14-13 in overtime. The senior scored twice in the fourth quarter, including a goal with four seconds left in the game to tie the score at 13-13 to force overtime. Finley was 2-for-2 in free position opportunities.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Bates – Lauren Wong (Walpole, Mass.) tallied a career-high seven points (4 goals, 3 assists) in a 20-3 win over Saint Joseph's on Wednesday. The senior also caused three turnovers and recorded a ground ball in the contest. Wong added a goal, three ground balls, and two caused turnovers against Trinity on Saturday.
Bowdoin – Junior midfielder
Grace Harvey (North Ferrisburgh, Vt.) had a goal, three caused turnovers, and two ground balls in a Saturday loss to Hamilton.
Colby –
Julia Maimonis (Lexington, Mass.) scored three goals and added an assist in Saturday's setback against Williams. The senior midfielder also collected two draw controls and forced three turnovers.
Conn. College - Senior defender
Casey Chesner (Great Falls, Va.) led Conn. College to a 1-1 week, tallying six ground balls, five caused turnovers, and four draw controls. On Wednesday night, in a 9-7 win over Coast Guard, Chesner filled out the stat sheet, totaling three caused turnovers, three draw controls, and two ground balls. On Saturday against No. 1 Middlebury, Chesner added a season-high four ground balls, while causing two turnovers.
Hamilton – Junior
Eliza Schwarz (New York, N.Y.) made 11 saves, including two in the final 2:30 of the fourth quarter, in an 11-9 win at Bowdoin. Schwarz added nine stops and five ground balls in a 10-9 setback at 10th-ranked William Smith.
Middlebury –
Skylar Lach (Washington, D.C.) excelled in a 3-0 performance for Middlebury. The senior opened the slate with two goals and a draw control in a 20-1 victory at Skidmore. Lach led the charge in a 15-4 triumph over Connecticut College, pacing the attack with five points (4G, 1A). The Panther closed the week in style with three goals, three assists, and a draw control to help seal a 19-7 win over St. Lawrence. The six points against the Saints tied a career-high, and Lach is two points away from 100 in her career.
Trinity –
Kaeley Zito (Charlestown, R.I.) powered the Bantams offense to a pair of victories last week, registering eight points with five goals and three assists. In an 11-6 non-conference tune-up against Union, Zito logged three points with two goals and an assist. The senior followed with a five-point effort in Trinity's NESCAC opening win over Bates, potting three goals with two assists.
Wesleyan – The freshman defender
Elise Kurtis (Providence, R.I.) led the Cardinals to a 10-7 win over Franklin & Marshall in a showdown of Top 10-ranked teams. Kurtis led the team with three caused turnovers and added four ground balls, and helped the Cardinals hold Franklin & Marshall to just seven goals and 20 shots while forcing 16 turnovers in the contest.
Williams – First-year goalie
Savoy McMahon (Hebron, Conn.) made eight saves, including four in the fourth quarter, in an 11-9 victory at No. 3-ranked Colby. McMahon did not allow a goal in the fourth quarter.
