Amherst Blanks Elmira to Advance to NCAA Women's Ice Hockey Frozen Four

The Amherst Mammoths advanced to the NCAA Frozen Four for the sixth time in team history and third time in four years with a 3-0 shutout of Elmira at Orr Rink.

The NCAA Frozen Four will be hosted by top-ranked UW-River Falls at Hunt Arena on March 27 and March 29. Norwich will face Nazareth in the first semifinal on March 27 at 4 p.m. (ET) while the Mammoths meet UW-River Falls in the second semifnal at 8 p.m. (ET). The winners will play in the national championship game on March 29 at 4 p.m.

UW-River Falls defeated Amherst, 3-1, in the 2025 NCAA Division III National Championship game. The Mammoths have played in two of the last three championship games.

Natalie Stott recorded a 35-save shutout and Amherst scored three unanswered goals to defeat Elmira 3-0 at Orr Rink, sending the Mammoths to the NCAA Division III Frozen Four for the sixth time in program history and third time in the last four seasons.

The game was scoreless through 32 minutes before Maeve Reynolds broke through at 12:59 of the second period, converting feeds from Gretchen Dann and Cara Mancini. Amherst then struck twice in the first three minutes of the third to put the game away. Bea Flynn scored on the power play just 41 seconds into the period, and Marie-Eve Marleau made it 3-0 at 2:39 with Reynolds and Mancini picking up assists.

Dann finished with two assists and a game-high six shots, while Reynolds contributed a goal and two assists. Stott was sharp throughout, particularly in the first period when she turned aside 12 Elmira shots to keep the game scoreless.

Elmira (20-6-2) outshot Amherst 14-11 in the third period but could not solve Stott, who posted her 12th shutout of the season and 45th of her career, an all-time NCAA Division III record. It was also Stott's 86th career win at Amherst, another NCAA Division III record. Oliva Last made 39 saves in the loss. Amherst (21-2-6), a two-time national champion, reached the Frozen Four for the third time in four years after also advancing in 2023 and 2025, when the Mammoths finished as national runners-up.

The third-ranked Mammoths will face top-ranked UW-River Falls, the host of the Frozen Four, in a national semifinal on Friday, March 27 at 7 p.m. at Hunt Arena.

Jordan O'Kane stopped all 37 shots she faced and MaKenna Aure scored the lone goal as two-time defending national champion UW-River Falls edged Williams 1-0 in an NCAA Division III Quarterfinal at Hunt Arena.

Aure broke the scoreless deadlock at 7:16 of the second period, converting a pass from Katherine Bell for what stood as the game-winner. It was the only goal the Falcons (28-1-0) would need behind O'Kane's performance.

Williams (18-5-5) made it a tight contest throughout, outshooting River Falls 18-15 in the third period as the Ephs pushed for the equalizer. Erin Pye kept Williams within striking distance with 45 saves, and the Ephs had four power-play opportunities but could not convert. Williams pulled Pye for an extra attacker late in the third during their final power play but O'Kane kept the Ephs off the scoreboard.
