Marrich Somridhivej’s national championship and NESCAC-record-breaking performance in the 100 breaststroke highlighted the third day of competition for NESCAC swimmers and divers at the 2026 NCAA Championships at IU Natatorium on the IU Indianapolis campus.
The final day of competition at the championship meet is Saturday, March 21 and begins with prelim swims at 10 a.m. followed by the evening finals session at 6 p.m.

Men’s 200 Medley Relay
The Williams relay of Whitman Horton, Michael Grover, Mason Green, and Theo Randall finished eighth in the consolation final with a time of 1:29.41.
Women’s 200 Medley Relay
The Williams and Colby relays finished 6-7 in the championship heat. The Eph foursome of Irene Yang, Anna Doherty, Clare McDermott, and Emma Dimter combined for a time of 1:42.40. The Mules squad of Alexis Coates, Kellen Mottl, Caitlin Lucy, and Eliza Marco posted a time of 1:42.47.
In the consolation final, the Tufts relay of Elena Harrison, Quinci Wheeler, Angel Smyrniou, and Katharine Skelly totaled a time of 1:42.45 to finish fifth. The Amherst team of Katy Niziol, Joline Fong, Lucy Smith, and Sydney Thompson placed seventh with a time of 1:43.11.
Women’s 200 Butterfly
Amherst junior Maeve Kelley finished third with a time of 2:00.24 while Williams senior Lily Codd placed sixth (2:01.55). In the consolation final, Harper Stevenson of Bowdoin was third (2:02.43) and Williams rookie Maggie Farley was sixth (2:03.57).
Men’s 100 Backstroke
Tim Johnson of Bates finished fourth in the consolation heat with a time of 48.33.
Women’s 100 Backstroke
Williams junior Alden White finished tied for seventh in the championship final, posting a time of 55.12. Fellow Eph Irene Yang won the consolation final heat (55.07) and paced the three NESCAC qualifiers in the race. Colby’s Alexis Coates tied for fourth (55.99) and Tufts Abby Davis finished seventh (55.98).
Men’s 100 Breaststroke
Bates senior Marrich Somridhivej won the national title in the 100 breaststroke with a NESCAC-record time of 51.82, breaking the conference mark he set during the 2026 NESCAC Championships. Somridhivej is the third NESCAC swimmer to win the NCAA title in the 100 breaststroke (2004-Mike Pohorylo, Amherst / 1975-Jeff Carlberg, Hamilton). Conn. College sophomore Carrick Shea placed third (53.29).
In the consolation final Bates’ Nate Oppenheim finished fourth (54.34) and Williams senior Michael Grover was sixth (54.92).
Women’s 100 Breaststroke
Kellen Mottl of Colby College led the conference swimmers in the 100 breaststroke with an eighth-place finish in the championship heat and time of 1:03.10. In the consolation final, Sarah Palmer of Bates finished third (1:02.88) and Tufts senior Quinci Wheeler touched the wall in a time of 1:03.40.
Men’s 1-Meter Diving
Jay Wilkinson of Tufts registered 462.35 points to finish 12th overall and Williams sophomore Calder Biondi placed 14th with 457.60 points.
Men’s 800 Freestyle Relay
The Williams relay of Nye Hanan, Ryan Nunez, Harrison Williams, and Sam Brozek led the three relays in the final event of the third day of competition. The Ephs combined for a time of 6:35.79 to finish eighth overall. The Conn. College led by Aiden Miller, Carrick Shea, Campbell Noel, and Evan Lyons finished 15th (6:39.59) and the Tufts team of Rafae Shafi, Nico Ogawa, Max Gerke, and Jan Springer placed 17th (6:45.84).
Women’s 800 Freestyle Relay
The Williams relay of Sophie Phelps, Esme Van Orden, Lily Codd, and Carter Roebuck finished fourth in the final event of the third day. The foursome posted a time of 7:19.30. Amherst placed 10th as the team of Ava Insteness, Maeve Kelley, Penny Lazar, and Paige Arnold posted a time of 7:27.48. The Tufts team followed in 12th place with a time of 7:31.20 behind the efforts of Madeleine Dunn, Quinci Wheeler, Elena Harrison, and Sweeney Su. Middlebury and Colby rounded out the NESCAC teams in the relay. The Panthers relay of Hannah Baumgartner, Anna McGrew, Isla Johnston, and Lauren Jolley placed 15th (7:35.03), while the Colby quartet of Zoe Buzzelli, Lucy Mackey, Savannah Lombardi, and Aria Kapoor registered a time of 7:35.23 to finish 16th.
