NEW LONDON, Conn. - Tufts junior Jay Wilkinson won the 1-meter diving competition at the NCAA Regional hosted by Connecticut College. The victory earned Wilkinson a spot among the 24 entries into the NCAA Division III Men’s & Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships. Williams teammates Haochen Liu and Calder Biondi also qualified for the championships to give the NESCAC three divers in the overall diving competition.
The NCAA Division III Championship meet is scheduled for March 18-21 at IU Natatorium on the campus of IU Indianapolis. The men's 3-meter diving event will take place on Wednesday (Mar. 18) that week, while the 1-meter competition is set for Friday (Mar. 20).
Wilkinson won the 1-meter competition with a score of 479.55 points and finished fourth in the 3-meter event (469.45 points). Wilkinson will make his second NCAA appearance after qualifying as a rookie in 2024 and finishing 16
th in the 3-meter competition to earn Honorable Mention All-America honors. He was also 19
th on the 1-meter board in 2024.
Biondi earned a pair of third-place finishes on the 1-meter (470.85 points) and 3-meter (479.20) boards at the regionals. Liu scored 441.75 points on 11 dives to finish fourth on the 1-meter board but had the highest average score (6.74) among the competitors. Liu also finished second on the 3-meter board with a score of 482.10.
