NESCAC Men’s Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week
Owen Vale – Amherst – Fy. – Avon, Conn.
Coming off a training trip, Vale had a stellar meet weekend, posting two record-setting swims and multiple lifetime bests. Against Springfield College, Vale set the NESCAC Record and Pratt Pool Record in the 100 IM with a time of 50.61. The rookie also knocked down the Pratt Pool Record in the 200 IM, setting a new personal best with a time of 1:50.18. On Saturday at the Menck Sprints, Vale set a personal best in the 100 backstroke (52.15) and posted season-best times in the 100 breaststroke (58.53) and 200 freestyle (1:43.68).
NESCAC Honor Roll
Hamilton – Senior
Matt Hake (Greenwich, Conn.) had an excellent last meet at Bristol Pool, contributing to a second-place 200 medley relay, along with finishing second in his two respective individual events – 50 breaststroke (26.56) and 100 breaststroke (59.35). Hake also recorded splits of 25.66 in the 50 breaststroke and 21.83 in the 50 freestyle.
Trinity –
Owen Schmidt (South Hamilton, Mass.) had a standout senior meet and last dual meet against Coast Guard. Schmidt won both 1-meter (219.83 points) and 3-meter (213.23 points) events with scores that earn him a spot in Trinity’s all-time top 10.
Wesleyan –
Jeremiah Tomioka (Emerson, N.J.) had one of his best collegiate meets last weekend against Colby. The rookie was victorious in the 1000 freestyle (10:02) and 500 freestyle (4:52), posting season-best times.
Williams - Against MIT and NYU,
Mason Green (Gilbertsville, PA.) showcased his speed in the 50 freestyle (21.38) and the 100 butterfly (51.52). The junior was also a key contributor in two relays, leading off the 200 free relay with a 21.35 and recording a 51.52 butterfly split. The following day against Hamilton and Middlebury, Green competed in the 50 freestyle (21.66) and the 50 butterfly, posting a personal best time of 23.38. Green also contributed to two relays, splitting 24.71 on the backstroke leg of the 200 medley relay and 21.71 in the 200 freestyle relay.
