A total of four women's tennis athletes from the NESCAC were selected to the 2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America teams. Amy Cui of Amherst was joined by the Middlebury duo of Nina Farhat and Sahana Raman and Yuu Ishikawa of Williams.
The Academic All-America program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Academic All-District honors are awarded to up to four student-athletes from each team who have at least a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average and need to be in the lineup for 70 percent of the total matches played by the team that includes team scores. From the Academic All-District honorees, 18 student-athletes are selected as Academic All-Americans by the membership of College Sports Communicators, with teams named in 14 sports and at-large teams that cover sports not represented by their own team.
Cui, who earned her first CSC Academic All-America honor, is the 47th Mammoth to earn CSC Academic All-American honors since 1982 and the first women's tennis player since Brittany Berkes accomplished the feat in 2010. A neuroscience major from East Brunswick, N.J., Cui earned All-NESCAC First Team Singles and Second Team Doubles honors, closing her Amherst career with five total All-NESCAC selections in four years. Serving as the Mammoths' number one singles player for much of her career, the senior produced an 18-8 singles record was 21-9 on the doubles court in the 2024-25 season.
Farhat and Raman, the NCAA Runner-Up in the doubles bracket this season, posted a record of 30-4 in 2024-25 as the Panthers' top doubles team. Farhat is a molecular biology and biochemistry major with a 3.97 GPA. The senior concluded her career with a 72-16 mark in doubles play and a 45-10 singles record. Recently named the ITA's Most Improved Player, Farhat also tallied All-NESCAC First Team Doubles honors alongside Raman.
Raman graduated with a degree in neuroscience and boasted a GPA of 3.82. The senior becomes the first women's tennis player to earn the prestigious award twice, securing Academic All-America honorss a season ago. Raman finished her career with a 99-30 mark in doubles action and 84-30 in singles, marking what is believed to be the most wins in both in Middlebury history. The ITA Northeast Region's Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award was presented to Raman at the end of the season. The Panther became the fifth women's tennis competitor in Middlebury history to garner NESCAC Player of the Year honors, while earning her fourth-straight first-team all-conference laurel.
Ishikawa, a senior captain for the Ephs who hails from Los Altos, California, is a three-time NESCAC All-Academic honoree. A four-year player at Williams, Ishikawa compiled a career singles record of 51-27 and a 66-24 career record in doubles. This year playing at number one singles and number one doubles Ishikawa went 6-15 in singles and 15-4 at number one doubles. A biochemical and molecular biology major Ishikawa was named a Class of 1960 Scholar, is a member of the Japanese Student Union Board, Biology Major Committee, and served as a Research Assistant for Professor Shivon Robinson from 2022-24 helping write and publish Academic Manuscripts.
