HADLEY, Mass. – The 2025 NESCAC Men’s Golf Awards, as voted on by the league’s coaches, were announced on Tuesday. Hamilton’s Ramon Aroca Gonzalez was named the NESCAC Golfer of the Year and Trinity’s Charlie Mullin was selected as the NESCAC Rookie of the Year. Amherst head coach Elizabeth Geene was voted as the NESCAC Coach of the Year by her peers.
Aroca Gonzalez finished as the runner-up on the individual leaderboard at the NESCAC Championship, where Hamilton placed third as a team. The junior shot even par over the first 36 holes and carded an 80 for the final round at Taconic Golf Club. Aroca Gonzalez, who is the NESCAC Golfer of the Year award for the second time in his career (2023), won four tournaments and posted six top 10 finishes this season. Aroca Gonzalez, who owns a 72.1 scoring average this season, was an individual qualifier for the NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championship event for the first time. The tournament begins on Tuesday, May 20, and runs through Friday, May 23. The first two rounds will be played simultaneously at Midvale Country Club in Penfield, N.Y., and at Cobblestone Creek Country Club in Victor, N.Y.
Mullin tied for eighth at the NESCAC Championship, helping the Bantams earn runner-up honors. The newcomer posted back-to-back rounds of 74 over the first 36 holes and added a 78 in the final round. Mullin finished in the top 10 in five events and owned a 73.5 scoring average this season. Mullin is the fourth Bantam to garner the NESCAC Rookie of the Year honor and the first since the 2014-15 season.
Geene, in her fifth year leading the men’s team, is the NESCAC Men’s Coach of the Year for the first time in her career. She helped the Mammoths post a come-from-behind effort to win the program’s first NESCAC title since 1997 and ninth overall. Amherst entered the final round in third place and five strokes behind the leader. The Mammoths finished the day winning the tournament by three strokes and earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championship.
