NESCAC Men's Lacrosse Awards Unveiled

HADLEY, Mass. – The NESCAC announced its year-end awards for men's lacrosse. Tufts junior Jack Regnery was selected as the Player of the Year, while Bowdoin’s Jed Hoggard was named the Defensive Player of the Year. Amherst newcomer Willie Doyle was voted as the Rookie of the Year, and the Bowdoin staff was selected as the Coaching Staff of the Year by its peers.

Regnery leads Tufts in scoring with 72 points on 53 goals and 19 assists in the 13 games he has played to date. The junior’s 53 markers rank second in the conference and his 19 assists are seventh. As an attack, Regnery is averaging 5.54 points and 4.08 goals per game for the Jumbos. Regnery is the seventh player from Tufts to be named the NESCAC Player of the Year. The top-seeded Jumbos will host the NESCAC Semifinals and Championship Game on May 3-4 at Bello Field.

Hoggard is the first Bowdoin player to garner the NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year honor, which was created in 2024. Hoggard has tallied 12 points on five goals and seven assists. The senior leads the Polar Bears with 63 ground balls and 28 caused turnovers and has contributed to a Bowdoin defense that has allowed a league-low 133 goals. The second-seeded Polar Bears will face No. 3 Wesleyan in the NESCAC Semifinals.

Doyle is the third consecutive Mammoth to be voted as the NESCAC Rookie of the Year. The newcomer is the sixth player from Amherst to garner the accolade overall. Doyle, who appeared in all 15 games this season, ranked fifth on the squad in scoring with 29 points on 16 goals and 13 assists. Doyle and the Mammoths qualified for the 2025 NESCAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship as the No. 4 seed.

The Bowdoin staff, led by Bill Mason with assistant coaches Donal Mullane, Steve Gilbert, and Thomas McCabe, was recognized as the NESCAC Coaching Staff of the Year. The 2025 campaign marks the second time since Mason’s arrival at Bowdoin that the staff has been honored, and it is the fourth time a Polar Bear staff has been recognized with the award. Bowdoin (13-2) earned the No. 2 seed in the NESCAC Championship and advanced to the semifinals at Tufts.
