NESCAC Players of the Week
CK Giancola – Wesleyan – Gr. – M – Fort Myers, Fla.
Giancola unloaded for 11 goals and three assists in two games last week, including a five-goal effort in a dominant 15-6 win over Bates in the NESCAC Quarterfinal round on Saturday. Giancola scored five against the Bobcats and added two assists for a seven-point game. It marks his fifth straight postseason game with four or more goals, dating back to last season. The graduate student also scored six times to go along with one assist for another seven-point effort in the regular season finale, a 19-9 win at Conn. College.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst –
Bennett Chow (Chicago, Ill.) scored seven goals and added two assists in a 1-1 week for the Mammoths. In a 16-10 win at Trinity in the regular-season finale, Chow had four goals and two assists. The junior added a team-high three goals in a 10-8 loss to Middlebury in the NESCAC Quarterfinals. Chow posted career highs in goals (27), assists (13), and points (40) this season.
Bates –
Riley McClure (Georgetown, Mass.) matched his season-high with five goals in Wednesday's 13-10 win over Colby. The sophomore also recorded a goal in the NESCAC Quarterfinals at Wesleyan. McClure's 35 goals this season led the team and rank 14th in the NESCAC at 2.19 goals per game.
Bowdoin – Junior
Sam Raye-Steiner (Chatham, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lift the Polar Bears to a 13-12 win over Hamilton on Saturday in the quarterfinals of the NESCAC Championship. Raye-Steiner had three goals and two assists for Bowdoin, who rallied from a four-goal deficit at halftime to earn the win.
Colby –
Will Heisler (Westport, Conn.) collected 16 saves in a setback against Bates for his ninth double-digit save performance of the season. The junior finished the regular season second in the NESCAC with 15.36 saves per game.
Conn. College –
JJ Ford (Clinton, Conn.) led the Camels with two goals and an assist in the regular season finale against Wesleyan. The senior finished with 99 career goals in four seasons at Conn., good enough to rank 10th on the program's all-time goal scorer list.
Hamilton – Senior
Jack Fried (Larchmont, N.Y.) made 15 saves, scooped up three ground balls, and caused a turnover in a 13-12 overtime setback at Bowdoin in the NESCAC Quarterfinals. Fried is the fifth goalie in Hamilton men's lacrosse history with 500 career saves.
Middlebury – Junior
Hayden Kern (Westlake Hills, Texas) was a clutch performer in goal for the Panthers in the NESCAC Quarterfinals, stopping 18 shots to propel Middlebury to a 10-8 road upset of Amherst. In the back-and-forth contest, Kern stopped three Mammoth shots over the final 15 minutes to push the Panthers into the conference semifinals for the 18th time. Kern has recorded double-digit stops in three of the last four contests.
Tufts – Junior
Brooks Hauser (Denver, Colo.) had a dynamic week for the Jumbos, as he tallied four goals in a big road overtime win at Bowdoin midweek. He followed that up with three goals and three assists in an NESCAC Quarterfinal win over Williams. The junior is second on the team with points with 55 this year.
Wesleyan -

Jesse Shapiro (Glencoe, Ill.) compiled six goals and two assists in a pair of games last week. Shapiro recorded a hat trick and one assist, while scoring the game-winning goal with 2:55 remaining in the fourth quarter during a 12-11 victory over No. 19 Middlebury on Wednesday as the Ephs clinched a NESCAC Tournament berth. In the NESCAC Quarterfinals at No. 1 Tufts, Shapiro scored three goals and added an assist.
