Amherst Comes From Behind to Win 2025 NESCAC Men's Golf Title

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – In the first 54-hole NESCAC Championship event in conference history, the Amherst Mammoths came from behind to on Sunday in the final round of the 2025 NESCAC Men’s Golf Championship to capture their first conference title since 1997 and ninth overall. The Mammoths combined to post a three-day total of 896 (292-298-306).
 
Amherst entered the final day in third place and five strokes behind two-day leader Hamilton. The Continentals dropped seven strokes to fall to third by the end of the final round, which allowed Amherst and Trinity to duke it out for the title.
 
Both teams were tied through 16 holes. On the 17th, both teams posted two pars and three bogeys and on the final hole, five Mammoths posted par on the par-5 18th to secure the NESCAC title by three strokes over the Bantams.
 
Amherst junior Paari Kaviyarasu garnered medalist honors, finishing the tournament at +4 with rounds of 68-75-74. Kaviyarasu posted five birdies in the final round and 12 for the championship. Kaviyarasu is the first outright NESCAC medalist at the championship since 1999-00.
 
Trinity (294-292-313-899) finished as the NESCAC Runners-Up for the sixth time in program history. Hamilton (290-295-318-903) placed third while Bowdoin (299-304-311-914) and Middlebury (302-304-316-922) rounded out the top five teams.
