NESCAC Co-Players of the Week
Casey Ryan – Bowdoin – So. – A – San Diego, Calif.
Ryan, a sophomore attack, propelled the Polar Bears to a pair of NESCAC road wins last week, sparking the offense with five goals and 10 assists in the two games. At Colby on Wednesday night, Ryan spearheaded the Polar Bear with a goal and four assists in a 15-5 win. Saturday at Williams, Ryan scored four goals and six assists, including three goals and two helpers in an 11-1 second-half run as Bowdoin pulled away for an 19-8 victory. Ryan is second in the league in both assists (37) and points (56) this season.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst –
Alex Giacobbe (Manhasset, N.Y.) scored four goals and added an assist in a pair of wins last week. Giacobbe scored the game-winning goal with 1:12 left in an 8-7 win at Bates. The senior scored three of the Mammoths’ eight goals in the victory. Giacobbe added a goal and assist in a 13-9 win over Conn. College earlier in the week.
Bates – Long-stick middie
Ben Miller (Scarsdale, N.Y.) posted two strong defensive efforts last week as the Bobcats faced No. 1 Tufts and No. 10 Amherst. Against the Jumbos, Miller registered two ground balls and a caused turnover and matched his season-high with four caused turnovers and recorded four ground balls versus the Mammoths. On Senior Day, Miller had the honor of taking the opening face-off, which he won. Miller ranks second in the NESCAC at 2.07 caused turnovers per game.
Colby – With one score on the season heading into Saturday's matchup at Trinity, sophomore
Easton Bello (Glenview, Ill.) scored five goals and added an assist in Colby's setback to the Bantams. Tallying Colby's first three goals, Bello helped the Mules even the score at 3-3 midway through the second quarter. The sophomore’s assist in the third quarter knotted the game at 5-5, and his two fourth-quarter tallies brought the Mules to within one with 10 minutes to go.
Conn. College –
Aidan McAvoy (Charlotte, N.C.) paced the Camels with three goals and four assists last week over a pair of games. The senior recorded a hat trick and added a pair of assists in a 15-13 victory over Grove City College on a neutral field over the weekend. Earlier in the week McAvoy supplied two goals and two assists in league action at Amherst.
Hamilton – Senior
Jack Fried (Larchmont, N.Y.) made 16 saves in a 14-10 win against Williams. Fried added seven stops and two ground balls in a 17-13 setback at Wesleyan.
Middlebury – Senior
William Munroe (Wayland, Mass.) earned 16 faceoff victories over two games last week, surpassing Brian McGregor for the most all-time. The Panther has 758 wins from the X and is just five ground balls away from becoming the program’s career leader.
Trinity – Sophomore
Bo Page (Wayne, Pa.) powered the Bantams’ offense in a 1-1 week in NESCAC action, logging nine points with six goals and three assists. After tallying a goal and an assist against Wesleyan, Page registered a game-high seven points with a game-high five goals and an assist in Trinity's 11-8 victory over Colby College.
Tufts – Junior Jack Regnery (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) posted 13 points in a pair of home wins, as the Jumbos topped Bates,18-5, before besting No. 16 Middlebury College, 16-11, on Saturday. Regnery tallied six points on four goals and an assist against Bates, firing 14 shots, before tallying seven points on five goals and two helpers against Middlebury. The junior moved into No. 10 all-time in points at Tufts with 213 for his career.
Wesleyan -
Jack Raba (Cheshire, Conn.) had a productive week for the Cardinals, totaling 12 points in two wins. The graduate student started with four assists in a 13-7 home win over Trinity on Wednesday and followed that up by matching his season-high with eight points on three goals and five assists with three ground balls in a 17-13 win over Hamilton at home on Saturday. The hat trick is Raba's first of the season, while the five assists raise his season total to 38, tops among all players in the NESCAC.
Williams –
Harrison Cross (Pittsford, N.Y.) tallied a combined six goals and two assists in a pair of games last week. At Hamilton on Wednesday, the senior tallied four goals and two assists, as the four goals tied a career-high.
