Conference Record Eight NESCAC Teams Selected for NCAA Field Hockey Championship

A conference record eight NESCAC teams were selected for the 2025 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship. The NCAA Final Four will be hosted by Trinity College in Hartford, Conn. on November 21 and 23.

NESCAC Champion Bates received the conference’s automatic bid after winning the program’s first-ever conference title in team history. The Bobcats, making their third straight NCAA appearance, are one of the top four seeds in the tournament and will host second- and third-round games on November 15 and 16.

NESCAC Runners-Up Wesleyan was an at-large selection and will host Marywood University in the first round. It’s the Cardinals’ second selection to the national postseason tournament in team history.

Amherst is making its sixth NCAA appearance in program history and its first since 2011. The Mammoths will face Stevens in Hoboken, N.J., in a first-round matchup on Wednesday, Nov. 12.

After a three-year absence, Bowdoin returns to the NCAA field as an at-large selection. The Polar Bears will host Scranton in a first-round game on Wednesday, November 12, at Ryan Field. Bowdoin is making its 15th NCAA Tournament appearance and has won four national titles under head coach Nicky Pearson.

Hamilton, an at-large selection, will host an NCAA game for the first time in team history when it faces SUNY Geneseo in the first round on Wednesday. The Continentals’ only other NCAA appearance was in 2009.

Middlebury, the seven-time defending national champion, earned an at-large berth to the tournament field. The Panthers are making their 25th NCAA appearance and will host Westfield State in a first-round contest on Wednesday at Peter Kohn Field.

Tufts earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the 16th time in program history and seventh consecutive season. An at-large selection, the Jumbos will host Dean in the opening round on Wednesday at Ounjian Field. Tufts won the NCAA title in 2012 and has played in four other NCAA Finals, including last season.

Williams was the final at-large selection among NESCAC teams to the NCAA Tournament field. The Ephs will host an NCAA Tournament game for the fourth year in a row and are making their 15th postseason appearance overall. The Ephs have played in two semifinals in program history (2022, 2024).
