NESCAC Player of the Week
Erin Pye – Williams – Jr. - G – Third Lake, Ill.
Pye went 1-0-1 in net for the Ephs against No. 15 Colby on Friday and Saturday. The junior made a combined 66 saves in the two games and allowed one goal for a .985 save percentage and 0.48 goals against average. Pye made 33 saves in a 0-0 tie against Colby Saturday and saved all three shootout attempts as the Ephs won the shootout, 1-0. Pye also made 33 stops in a 2-1 win over the Mules Friday evening.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst –
Gretchen Dann (Hanover, N.H.) scored four goals to help the Mammoths post a 2-1-0 record last week. In a win over No. 5 Oswego State, Dann netted her first collegiate hat trick, including the game-winning goal, in a 4-0 victory. The junior scored the only Amherst goal in a 2-1 loss at Wesleyan. In 16 games this season she had registered a career-high five goals and nine points.
Bowdoin – Sophomore goaltender
Sarah Peterson (Maple Grove, Minn.) made 63 saves to post a .954 save percentage and a 1.51 goals against average in a weekend split with top-ranked Middlebury.
Colby –
Mandy Busky (Ellington, Conn.) remained undefeated in net, recording a career-high 39 saves in a 0-0 draw with Williams. The senior is 4-0-2 on the season after recording her second shutout on the year and the 10th of her career.
Conn. College – Senior forward
Claire Sammons (Naperville, Ill.) paced Conn. College with four points in a 1-1-1 week against Manhattanville and Hamilton. Against Manhattanville, Sammons tallied a goal and an assist in a 3-2 win over the Valiants. Sammons assisted Lily Stern's go-ahead goal in the second period, before tallying the game-winner late in the third. Sammons followed up with another two-point performance against Hamilton on Saturday. Sammons put the Camels on the board with five minutes left in the second period, before setting up Ashley Engle's game-tying goal in the dying minutes. For the week, Sammons had four points on two goals and two assists, won 20 face-offs, and blocked four shots.
Hamilton –
Bri Rockwood (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) scored all three goals in the Continentals' 3-1 win against William Smith. The goals were the first of Rockwood's collegiate career. The first-year forward tied the score 6:11 into the third period and scored the game-winner with 6:45 left before completing the natural hat trick with 4:50 remaining. Rockwood added an assist on Hamilton's first goal in a 2-2 tie at Connecticut College on Saturday.
Middlebury –
Sabrina Kim (Los Angeles, Calif.) assisted two of Middlebury’s three goals in a 1-1 weekend against No. 10 Bowdoin. The senior has a career-high 16 goals this season, which ranks first in the NESCAC. Kim is fourth in the country, averaging 1.00 helpers per game, while her 17 points are tied for the top spot in the conference.
Trinity – Graduate student
Jenny Guider (Ridgefield, Conn.) powered the Bantams to a 5-3 non-conference victory over Johnson & Wales, registering four points with a hat trick, including the game-winning goal and a short-handed tally, and an assist in the win.
Wesleyan –
Jenna Guglielmi (Branford, Conn.) made 75 saves and allowed just two goals in a weekend series against Top 5 ranked Amherst. Guglielmi opened with a 37-save performance against the Mammoths, leading the way in a 2-1 win for the Cardinals who landed just their second home victory over Amherst since 2004. The sophomore followed with 38 saves and one goal allowed in a 2-1 loss to the Mammoths on Saturday.
