NESCAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Niall Murphy – Amherst - Sr. - MF – Cambridge, Mass.
Murphy scored once and his persistent pressure on the ball allowed the Mammoths to post back-to-back 1-0 wins over Bates and Colby in a conference trip to Maine. Murphy's lone goal came in the 84th minute in an eventual 1-1 tie with No. 20 Babson. The Beavers took a 1-0 lead in the 81st minute, but Murphy’s equalizer minutes later allowed Amherst to earn the draw. Murphy's efforts in midfield contributed to the Mammoths allowing only five total shots on goal (3 vs. Bates, 2 vs. Colby), just one shot on goal in the second halves combined, in Amherst’s back-to-back shutout wins.
