NESCAC Player of the Week
CK Giancola – Wesleyan – Sr. – M – Canton, Conn.
Giancola matched his career high with seven points (4 goals, 3 assists) in a season-opening 20-11 road win at Colby on Saturday. Giancola scored consecutive goals to start the second half where the Cardinals outscored the Mules 13-4 to break open a game that stood tied 7-7 at halftime. Giancola’s 12 shots tied a career-high while he added three ground balls on Saturday. The senior midfielder also hit the 100-career point mark in the win, becoming the 38th player in team history to reach the milestone. 
 
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst – Junior Nicholas Kopp (Damascus, Md.) won 21 of 31 faceoffs on Saturday and led the Mammoths with 11 groundballs.

BatesGray Doyle (Summit, N.J.) impressed in his first three games of collegiate lacrosse, tallying a NESCAC-leading 15 points. Doyle scored six goals and dished out nine assists for the Bobcats. The newcomer also recorded 12 ground balls. Nine of the 15 points came in a thrilling 16-15 overtime win for Bates over Emerson to start the season.

Bowdoin - Goaltender Robert Hobbs (Wayne, Pa.) made 14 saves, leading a Polar Bear defense that allowed just six goals in a season-opening NESCAC win against Trinity on Saturday. Hobbs made 10 saves during a 28:32 scoreless stretch between the second and fourth quarters as the Polar Bears went on a key 8-0 run to seal the victory. 

ColbyBennett Goller (Napa, Calif.) opened the season with two goals and an assist in a setback against Wesleyan. The junior's tallies in the second quarter bookended a 4-0 Colby run that tied the game at 7-7 heading into the halftime break.  

Conn. CollegeAidan McAvoy (Charlotte, N.C.) led the Camels with two goals and a pair of assists in the season opener at Tufts last week. The junior netted a goal in each half and dished out both helpers in the second half while also picking up a caused turnover and three ground balls.

Hamilton - Will Heher (Essex, Conn.) scored a career-high six goals on eight shots and scooped up three ground balls in a 21-8 win against Bates – the lone game of the week for the Continentals. Heher's first goal came with 34 seconds left in the first quarter and the junior's fifth goal made it 14-2 just 27 seconds into the third quarter. Hamilton scored the most goals in a game since 2010.

Middlebury - Russell Thorndike (Brookline, Mass.) paced the Panthers in their season-opening 17-11 win over NESCAC foe Amherst. The junior led the squad, finding the back of the net four times while also recording an assist.

Trinity – Senior Andrew Bailey (Madison, N.J.) logged a pair of goals for the Bantams in Trinity’s 13-6 loss at Bowdoin in the season opener.

Tufts - Junior Max Ettinghausen (Rochester, N.Y.) had a banner game in the season opener for the Jumbos, as the lefty attack finished with a team-high six points on five goals and an assist, also tallying five ground balls, 10 shots, and a caused turnover. 

Williams – Senior Calvin Caputo (Pennington, N.J.) posted career-highs of eight goals and eight points in a 14-13 triumph over Babson in the Ephs' season-opener on Saturday at Farley-Lamb. The eight goals and eight points led all players in the game. Caputo scored five goals in the first quarter.
