NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Bates – Miles Schmidt (Seattle, Wash.) continued his excellent rookie season by winning 11-of-18 faceoffs and recording six ground balls in a 16-8 win over Maine Maritime Academy. Schmidt followed up by winning 14-or-28 faceoffs and recording four ground balls against Wesleyan. Schmidt has won 100 faceoffs in 189 opportunities through eight games this year for Bates, the most in the NESCAC. The newcomer’s 6.13 ground balls per game rank fifth in the conference.

Bowdoin – First-year Casey Ryan (San Diego, Calif.) came within a point of the school's single-game scoring record, tallying six goals with five assists in a midweek win over MIT. Ryan has burst onto the scene in the last two games, scoring 12 goals and seven assists in Bowdoin's last two outings.

Colby – Doug McCarthy (Westlake Village, Calif.) ran his streak of scoring two goals or more to five games with four goals in a victory over Saint Joseph's (ME) and two goals in a setback against Hamilton. The senior's 12 goals this season shatter his previous career-high of six set in 2023.

Conn. College – Liam Horkan (Malden, Mass.) notched his third-straight hat trick against Middlebury over the weekend. The sophomore’s back-to-back tallies in the fourth quarter pulled the Camels even at 10-10 with 10:38 to play, although the Panthers scored the game's final four goals to prevail. Horkan raised his team-leading goal total to 13 on the season.

Hamilton - Frank Coyle (Peterborough, Ontario) posted four points on two goals and two assists in a 13-10 win at Colby. Coyle scored twice midway through the second quarter as the Continentals grabbed a 6-2 advantage with 5:10 left. The sophomore had an assist on Hamilton's first goal as well as the 11th goal, which was scored early in the fourth quarter.

Middlebury – William Ryan (North Haven, Conn.) led Middlebury with seven points (6G, 1A) in a 1-1 week. The Panther played a pivotal role in the team’s come-from-behind victory over Connecticut College on Saturday. Knotted at 10-10 with under 10 minutes remaining, Ryan tallied two markers to help lift the Panthers past the Camels 14-10. The senior led Middlebury with four goals in a tight 11-9 loss to Union.

Trinity – Jay Ottomanelli (Garden City, N.Y.) matched his career high of five goals against Coast Guard and added one assist for six points in the Bantams’ 17-11 victory over the Bears. The sophomore midfielder also netted three goals with one assist in the NESCAC clash against visiting Williams.

Tufts - Junior long-stick midfielder Michael Ayers (Hamilton, Mass.) chalked up a great game in a 20-7 win over Stevens, as he finished with six ground balls, two caused turnovers, and an assist for the Jumbos. Ayers helped hold a potent Ducks' attack to just three first-half goals, while also setting up a Brooks Hauser tally early in the second quarter. Ayers is second on the team in ground balls with 26 this season and leads among non-face-off players.

Wesleyan – Sophomore attack Ben Burns (Suffern, N.Y.) scored seven goals in two games last week for Wesleyan, finishing with two goals against Stevens on Wednesday before scoring five to match his career-high in a 22-11 win over Bates in a rain-soaked Saturday afternoon win.
