NESCAC Player of the Week
Sydney Jones – Bowdoin – Jr. – G – Chestnut Hill, Mass.
Jones helped the Polar Bears clinch the top seed for the NESCAC Championship with a pair of conference wins. On Saturday against Amherst, Jones netted a career-high 32, with 24 coming in the second half, to go with 10 rebounds and five steals. With the game still close in the third quarter, Jones rolled off 16 straight points to put the contest out of reach. That performance came after a Friday win against Hamilton in which Jones flirted with a triple-double, scoring 12 points with 11 rebounds and seven assists in just 26 minutes. For the weekend, the guard averaged 22.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 3.5 steals while shooting 44 percent and going a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw stripe.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Bates –
Elsa Daulerio (Harpswell, Maine) recorded her sixth double-double of the season on Friday at Trinity, tallying a game-high 21 points and matching her career-high with 13 rebounds. The sophomore also blocked four shots against the Bantams. Daulerio followed up on Saturday with eight points, a game-high 10 rebounds, two assists, three blocked shots, and two steals in a 71-56 win over Wesleyan. With the victory, the Bobcats secured the sixth 20-win season in program history.
Conn. College –
Rebecca Oberman-Levine (Hamden, Conn.) averaged 14.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last week as the Camels went 1-1 to wrap up the season. The senior netted a team-high 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a loss to Middlebury on Friday. The forward then led Conn to its first NESCAC win of the season over Williams in the final game of her collegiate career, netting a team-high 18 points to go with four boards, three assists, one steal, and one block.
Colby – Sophomore
Chelsea Ibenegbu (Staten Island, N.Y.) led the Mules in scoring on the weekend, averaging 10.0 points per game and adding seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
Hamilton –
Taylor Lambo (Watertown, Mass.) averaged 18.5 points and 12.0 rebounds and went 15-for-18 at the free-throw line in two games. Lambo poured in 22 points, grabbed a career-high 17 boards, made two steals, and blocked a shot in a 52-49 win at Colby. The sophomore forward registered 15 points and seven rebounds in a 70-46 setback at Bowdoin. The double-double against the Mules was Lambo's eighth this season.
Middlebury –
Alexa Mustafaj (Yonkers, N.Y.) tallied 24 points to help Middlebury secure a 55-48 victory over Connecticut College to clinch a top-four seed in the NESCAC Women’s Basketball Championship. Mustafaj became the program’s career leader in field goals, tallying 10 to push her record total to 591. The Panther surpassed Hall of Famer Sladja Kovijanic’s mark of 585 which was over three decades ago (1993). Mustafaj also moved into fourth place on Middlebury’s single-season scoring list with 549 points. As a junior, Mustafaj threatens to become the program’s all-time leading scorer this season, sitting in second place with 1,588 points, just 14 shy of tying the record.
Trinity – Senior
Reilly Campbell (Wallingford, Conn.) averaged 14.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game in a 3-0 week for the Bantams. Against Rivier, the senior scored 20 points with six rebounds and two assists. In NESCAC play Campbell netted 12 points, tying for the team-high, in a win over Bates and added 11 points in a victory over Tufts, including her 1,000th career point.
Wesleyan – First-year guard
Felicia Fongemie (Ashford, Conn.) pumped in a career-high 28 points (9-16 FG, 4-5 3FG), the most points scored by a Cardinal in a single game this season, to lead Wesleyan to the team's first win over Tufts since 2006 on Friday night. Fongemie followed with 14 points on Saturday against Bates.
Williams –
Arianna Gerig (Westport, Conn.) scored a game-high 21 points with 10 rebounds at Connecticut College in the regular-season finale. The junior shot 10-of-21 from the field to go along with four assists and two steals. Gerig finished the season with 509 points, the most in a single season in program history.
