INDIANAPOLIS -  Former Colby women's basketball student-athlete Adaobi Nebuwa has been appointed to the NCAA Board of Governors as the Division III Student-Athlete representative, the association announced. 

A native of London, England, Nebuwa was a member of the Mules women's basketball program from 2020-24 and earned a bachelor's degree in computer science and anthropology from Colby in 2024.
 
"I'm incredibly honored to have been selected to serve on the Board of Governors. My time on Division III SAAC showed me the importance of having student-athletes at the table and ensuring that our perspectives are heard in decisions that shape the college athletics space. I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue representing the student-athlete voice in this new capacity. I look forward to building on what I've learned through SAAC to help shape the future of the NCAA and advocate for student-athletes across all three divisions," said Nebuwa.

Nebuwa, who will serve a two-year term on the Board of Governors, served on the NCAA Division III National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for three years while a student-athlete at Colby. She was the Student-Athlete Representative on the NCAA Division III Presidents Council and Championship Committee from January 2023 to January 2025. Nebuwa now works as a professional in the cybersecurity tech space.
 
The NCAA Board of Governors is the highest governance body of the NCAA and is responsible for strategic leadership and association-wide policies that impact all three divisions.
