NESCAC Player of the Week
Erin Pye – Williams – Jr. – G – Third Lake, Ill.
Pye made 74 saves while posting a .974 save percentage and a 0.99 goals against average in a 2-0 week for the Ephs. The junior stopped 37 shots to earn a shutout win in a 2-0 victory at No. 14 Norwich on Saturday. The goalie followed up with another 37-save performance in a 3-2 overtime victory at SUNY Morrisville on Sunday.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst – The Mammoths were idle last week. Amherst returns to action on January 5-6 at the East-West Classic at Norwich.
Bowdoin –
Jane McCarter (Unionville, Pa.) scored three goals last week - her first three of the season - as the Polar Bears picked up a pair of non-conference wins to improve to 7-0-0 for the first time since 1990. McCarter scored twice in a win at Keene State on Tuesday before tallying the game's first goal in a 2-0 win at the University of New England on Saturday. The senior also contributed to a backline effort that posted two shutouts and has not allowed a goal in 190:56 of game time, dating back to November 23.
Colby –
Breanna Studley (Berkeley, Mass.) guided Colby to a 3-0 week. In Friday's win at Wesleyan, the junior tallied two goals in 41 seconds to push the Mules past the Cardinals 3-1. In Saturday's come-from-behind victory at Trinity, Studley assisted Colby's first goal at the end of the second frame to knot the score 1-1 and then went coast-to-coast midway through the third to put Colby out in front, 2-1, in an eventual 3-2 non-conference win over the Bantams.
Conn. College - Junior goaltender
Jillian Wexler (Plainsboro, N.J.) was fantastic stopping every shot she faced, 27 saves, as Conn. College wrapped up 2024 with a 3-0 week. Wexler started the week with her first shutout as a Camel on Tuesday night, stopping all 15 shots faced in a 3-0 win over Salve Regina. On Saturday, Wexler recorded her second straight shutout, adding 12 more stops in a 1-0 win at UMass Boston.
Hamilton –
Evie Sheridan (Syracuse, N.Y.) made 23 saves in a 2-0 win at SUNY Canton, the lone game last week for the Continentals. Sheridan stopped 11 shots in the third period alone to help preserve the junior's sixth career shutout at Hamilton.
Middlebury -
Olivia McManus (Winthrop, Mass.) helped propel the third-ranked Panthers to a 2-1 victory over No. 7 Utica with the game-winner with 8:17 remaining in the third period. The Panther also had a key blocked shot in the middle of the second period. The sophomore’s lone tally against the Pioneers moved her into second on the squad with three goals and she is tied for third on the team with four assists. McManus’ golden goal pushed Middlebury’s record to 8-0-0, its best start since an unblemished 27-0-0 mark and the 2022 NCAA Division III Women’s Hockey Championship crown.
Trinity – Sophomore
Madeline Carter (Oak Park, Ill.) posted 40 saves with a 2.54 goals against average and a .889 save percentage in a pair of games against ranked opponents. Carter registered 14 saves against No. 15 Nazareth, followed by a 26-save performance against Colby College, a team receiving votes.
