NESCAC Player of the Week
Kendall Harris – Hamilton – So. – G – Chapel Hill, N.C.
Harris averaged 26.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals, and 2.0 assists in a 2-0 week for the Continentals. Harris poured in a season-high 27 points and grabbed 10 boards in a 67-64 win against SUNY Geneseo. The sophomore's 3-pointer pulled Hamilton within one, 64-63, and her two free throws with eight seconds lifted the Continentals to the victory. Harris posted 25 points, a season-best 13 rebounds, four assists, four steals, and two blocked shots in a 67-65 overtime victory against Rochester. The guard made a jumper with less than a second left in the fourth quarter and sent the game to overtime at 60-60.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst –
Kori Barach (Concord, Mass.) had an outstanding week, leading the Mammoths to a 3-0 record. The senior averaged 18.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while shooting 55.6 percent from the floor. In a 69-52 Little 3 win over Wesleyan, Barach scored 27 points grabbed seven rebounds, and handed out four assists. In a win over Colby-Sawyer, the guard scored a team-high 16 points with nine rebounds and two assists.
Bates –
Alexandra Long (Newtown, Pa.) was her usual consistent self in a 66-63 win over Colby on Tuesday, tallying six points, five rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and a steal while playing 36 minutes. Long exploded for a career-high 24 points on 9-for-13 shooting against No. 7 Bowdoin and grabbed five rebounds while dishing out two assists and recording another steal.
Bowdoin – Sophomore
Abbie Quinn (Bangor, Maine) led the Polar Bears in scoring last week as Bowdoin picked up a pair of wins over in-state opponents to remain unbeaten on the year. Quinn scored a career-high 25 points with eight rebounds and two steals, going 8-11 from the floor and 9-for-10 from the free throw line in a Thursday win over Bates. The forward added 15 points with four steals in a weekend win at Colby. For the week, Quinn averaged 20.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, shot 66 percent from the floor (12-for-18) and went 16-for-17 (94%) from the free throw line.
Colby –
Kate Olenik (Medfield, Mass.) played all 40 minutes and tallied a season-high 25 points in a 66-63 setback at Bates. The sophomore tallied a dozen points in the final quarter as Colby erased a nine-point deficit to take the lead with three minutes remaining. With 10 points in Colby's match up against Bowdoin, Olenik has scored in double-digits in 27 of her 30 career games.
Conn. College –
Hayle Thompson (Maynard, Mass.) averaged 8.5 points and a team-high 9.5 rebounds per game last week as the Camels posted a split in non-conference action. The sophomore logged career highs of 17 points and 14 rebounds in a win over Framingham State, shooting 7-for-11 from the field and finishing with three blocks, a steal, and an assist. Thompson also pulled down five boards in a loss at Wheaton.
Middlebury –
Alexa Mustafaj (Yonkers, N.Y.) led Middlebury to the Ed Hockenbury Classic title and was named the tournament’s most outstanding player. The guard netted her fifth game of 20 points or more with 26 in a 74-59 victory over Keene State. Mustafaj shot 50 percent (9-for-18) from the field while dishing out a career-best eight assists and snagged seven rebounds. The senior closed out the weekend with 17 points on 8-for-19 shooting to guide the Panthers to an 80-42 triumph over Norwich in the championship game and push the Panthers’ win streak to six consecutive contests. Mustafaj sits at the top of the conference in total field goals made (65) and points per game (19.9) while leading the Panthers to their best start since going 6-1 to start the 2019-20 campaign.
Trinity – Sophomore
Olivia Vick (Chicago, Ill.) led the Bantams offense in a 1-1 week, averaging 17.0 points, shooting 48.7 percent from the field and 50 percent (4-for-8) from 3-point range, with 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 blocks, and 1.0 steals. Vick netted a team-high 18 points with three rebounds in a 78-77 overtime loss at Coast Guard and scored 17 points with four rebounds and three assists in just 14 minutes of action during a 93-56 victory over Stevens.
Tufts – Junior
Sarah Crossett (Naperville, Ill.) led the Jumbos to a 2-1 week with wins over Emmanuel and MIT, as she averaged 10.3 points and pulled in 4.3 rebounds. Crossett shot 48.1 percent from the floor while also posting four assists. Crossett recorded nine points and three boards at Emmanuel and added 13 points and five rebounds against MIT. Sunday against No. 1 NYU, Crossett had a team-high nine points and five rebounds.
Williams –
Arianna Gerig (Westport, Conn.) averaged 18.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 3.0 steals and 2.7 blocks per game during a 2-1 week for the Ephs. The senior scored a season-high 24 points, shooting 8-for-10 from the free-throw line, to go along with 12 boards, a season-high six steals, five assists, and three blocks, in a 71-58 win over Clark on Saturday. Gerig poured in 19 points and blocked three shots, to go along with season highs of 13 rebounds and seven assists, in an 85-60 triumph over visiting Regis on Friday.
