NESCAC Player of the Week
Jack Lawson – Colby – Sr. – G – St. Louis, Mo.
Lawson led Colby to three wins over Thanksgiving week, tallying double-digits in each game and capping the week with a double-double in the finale. The senior’s 22 points and 12 rebounds pushed the Mules past Union as Colby ran its record to 7-1. Lawson shot 69 percent from the floor on the week, averaged 17.0 points and 8.0 rebounds, and totaled eight assists, two blocks, while playing 26 minutes per game.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst – The Mammoths were idle last week. Amherst returns to action on Tuesday, December 3 hosting MCLA.
Bates –
Babacar Pouye (Carpinteria, Calif.) scored 11 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds in a 68-66 win over Southern Maine on Tuesday. The sophomore also dished out four assists to match his career high. Pouye followed up with a season and game-high 23 points on 9-for-11 shooting to go along with a game-high nine rebounds and three blocks in a victory over Thomas College.
Bowdoin - First-year
Ray Cuevas (Ipswich, Mass.) averaged 20.5 points, shooting 54 percent from the field and 77 percent from 3-point range as the Polar Bears won two games to improve to 6-0 for the first time since 2017. Cuevas scored 18 points in a Tuesday win over Maine Maritime before netting a career-high 23 points against Husson on Sunday. For the week, Cuevas connected on 7-of-9 shots from 3-point range and was 10-for-13 from the charity stripe.
Conn. College –
Dylan Watson (Mount Kisco, N.Y.) averaged 11.5 points and 8.5 rebounds as the Camels split two games last week. The sophomore scored 13 points, recorded nine rebounds to lead all players in a win over Roger Williams, and shot 6-for-9 from the floor while adding a pair of assists. Earlier in the week Watson netted 10 points, with eight boards, and three blocks in a loss to Eastern Connecticut State.
Hamilton – Senior
Hank Morgan (Caldwell, N.J.) averaged 15.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in a 2-0 week for the Continentals. Morgan scored a game-high 20 points, grabbed nine rebounds and collected two steals in a 60-58 win at Pacific Lutheran. The senior guard scored the winning basket on a layup with 1.1 seconds left. Morgan contributed 10 points and five boards in a 73-68 victory at Puget Sound. Morgan's dunk and free throw in the final minute extended Hamilton's lead from one point to four at 72-68.
Middlebury – Middlebury used an 18-4 second-half surge to pull away from Endicott in a 90-78 win for the Panthers' fifth straight victory. Senior
David Brennan (Boston, Mass.) pulled down 23 boards to move into fifth place on the Panther’s all-time rebounding list with 755. The forward is the only NESCAC player to average double-digit boards this year, topping the charts with 11.6 rebounds per game. Brennan added eight boards earlier in the week against Plattsburgh State.
Trinity – Junior
Henry Vetter (Kenilworth, Ill.) led the Bantams offense in an 84-43 victory over Yeshiva University. Vetter poured in a game-high 19 points, shooting 7-of-10 from the field, with a team-high five rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal.
Tufts – Junior
James Morakis (Houston, Texas) averaged 20.5 points for the Jumbos, as No. 8 Tufts went 1-1 with a win over MIT and a loss to No. 20 WPI. Morakis scored 41 points in the two games, making 53.6 percent of his 28 shots while adding four assists and four rebounds per game. Morakis posted 21 points on Tuesday in a win over MIT and added 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting against WPI.
Wesleyan –
Shane Regan (Larchmont, N.Y.) led the Cardinals in scoring, averaging 20.5 points per game on 55.2 percent shooting from the floor, to go along with 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.0 steals in 28.5 minutes per game in two wins for Wesleyan last week. The senior opened with 22 points (9-for-14 FG) and six assists in an 82-59 home win over Emmanuel. The guard added 19 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals in a 77-62 win over Farmingdale State.
Williams –
Hudson Hansen (Bellevue, Wash.) averaged 12.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game, to go along with shooting 11-of-12 from the free-throw line, in a 2-0 week for the Ephs. The junior finished with 15 points, eight boards, three steals, two blocks and one assist in a 76-56 victory over Rhode Island College Sunday. Hansen recorded nine points, six rebounds and three assists during an 83-69 triumph over MCLA on Tuesday.
