What is your dream job/career?
My dream job/career would be to work in sports and development of youth sports, more specifically working within the ice hockey world. I would love to be a part of the NHL’s initiative to spread the sport and make it more accessible. I have enjoyed working as a youth coach in my free time.
What extracurricular activities or service activities do you participate in?
I am a fellow for the Teach for American Ignite Fellowship. This fellowship places students at different schools around the country to support a elementary school English or middle school math classroom educator. I have small group virtual tutoring sessions four times a week and help students through practice problems and new concepts they are learning in class. I wanted to participate in this program because I am studying education and human development and wanted to see the application of my learning and have hands-on experience with students.
Looking back on your college years, what are you most proud of?
I am most proud of not giving up when things got really hard, especially with COVID. It would have been easy for me to give up when I was the fourth goalie behind an All-American as a freshman or when the season was cancelled due to COVID, but I continued to work hard and take advantage of this time for development.

Something I enjoy doing that I never get tired of is going on walks and spending time outside. I love exploring new places with my dog and family.
What internships/research projects have you participated in?
In the summer of 2022, I was an intern for the Boston Red Sox. I learned a lot professionally and personally from my co-workers and intern group. I learned how much I enjoyed a fast-paced and collaborative work environment. I also learned more about the ins and outs of the professional sports world.
What has been the most interesting part of your major?
The most interesting part of my major is to see the application of what I am learning in everyday life. Most of what I am learning for my Master’s has a lot of application to things that I experience every day, so to see the real-life application of my class material has made it very interesting to learn about.
What is the greatest lesson you have learned from being a student-athlete?
I have learned the importance of taking care of yourself. It is important to take a break and a moment for yourself to be a successful student-athlete. Doing something for yourself isn’t selfish but needed to be the best teammate, friend, and classmate to others.
What is something interesting about you that others might not know?
I am bilingual in Japanese and English.
What is something you enjoy doing when not in class or competing in your sport?
Something I enjoy doing outside of class and hockey is horseback riding. It has been something I have done since I was little and it is a special time I get to spend with my mom.
