NESCAC Player of the Week
Augusta Dixon – Middlebury – Jr. – G – Charleston, S.C.
Dixon played a pivotal role in Middlebury’s 3-0 week, which included handing Amherst its first loss of the season. Dixon averaged 14.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game for the weekend. The Panther posted a career-high 19 points in Friday’s victory over Hamilton, including a personal-best nine field goals made. Dixon helped snap the Mammoth’s 11-game winning streak with her third double-double of the season (10 points, 12 rebounds) and eighth in her career. The junior leads the NESCAC in rebounding at 9.9 caroms per contest.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst – Junior
Kori Barach (Concord, Mass.) averaged 18.3 points, 6.67 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game in a 2-1 week for the Mammoths. In a 71-68 win over Williams, Barach scored 29 points and grabbed 12 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the floor.
Bates – Senior captain
Morgan Kennedy (Oklahoma City, Okla.) led the Bobcats in scoring in both games last week, starting with 22 points on 9-of-18 shooting in a 77-67 win over Maine Maritime Academy on Wednesday. Kennedy's 22 points matched her season high, and she hit 4-of-9 from 3-point range, grabbed four rebounds, dished out two assists, and recorded a steal in the win. On Sunday, Kennedy tallied 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting, hitting 4-of-6 from long distance in a 73-42 win over Connecticut College in the NESCAC opener for Bates. The guard also grabbed four rebounds and blocked a shot in the 31-point win, the Bobcats' largest margin of victory in a NESCAC game since 2006. Bates (11-2, 1-0 NESCAC) is off to the program's best start since the 2010-11 season.
Bowdoin – Junior
Sydney Jones (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) led the Polar Bears to two wins last week, scoring 20 points in a midweek win at Husson and then recording 13 in a victory over Trinity on Saturday. For the week, Jones also averaged 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 4.0 steals per game as Bowdoin extended its winning streak to nine games.
Conn. College –
Rebecca Oberman-Levine (Hamden, Conn.) averaged a team-high 12.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game last week as the Camels opened up NESCAC play with home dates against Tufts and Bates. The senior scored 12 points and added nine rebounds and four assists against the Jumbos, and added 13 points, five boards, and four steals against the Bobcats.
Colby –
Kate Olenik (Medfield, Mass.) tallied her first career double-double in a win over Wesleyan. The first year scored 19 points with 10 rebounds, adding four assists and two steals. The guard scored eight of Colby's 13 third-quarter points to help the Mules hold off a Wesleyan run. Colby has defeated the Cardinals three straight times and won six of the last nine meetings. Olenik currently ranks fourth among the NESCAC scoring leaders, averaging 16.5 points per game.
Hamilton –
Taylor Lambo (Watertown, Mass.) averaged 18.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in two games for the Continentals. Lambo poured in 20 points and added six boards and three assists in a 77-66 win against Williams. The sophomore chipped in 16 points and eight rebounds in a 57-54 setback against Middlebury. Lambo shot 60 percent (15-of-25) from the floor for the week.
Trinity – Senior
Reilly Campbell (Wallingford, Conn.) averaged a double-double of 17.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Bantams. Campbell posted a double-double with game-highs of 20 points and 12 rebounds in a 63-49 win over Babson. Campbell added 15 points, nine rebounds, and three assists in a 65-50 loss at Bowdoin.
Tufts –
Sofia Gonzalez (Glendale, Calif.) scored 14 points to help lead Tufts to an 80-56 win at Connecticut College in the NESCAC opener on Friday night. The junior led a 12-2 run late in the second quarter with seven points to give the Jumbos a 35-27 halftime lead after they had trailed 23-21. Gonzalez’s 3-pointer to begin the fourth started a 12-0 run for the Jumbos that put the game away. Including a game against Babson on Sunday Gonzalez averaged 13.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 2.0 steals for the weekend.
Wesleyan – Junior
Tori DaCosta (Bronx, N.Y.) tied her season-high with 17 points on 8-for-13 shooting with six rebounds at Colby on Sunday.
Williams –
Arianna Gerig (Westport, Conn.) averaged 21.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.3 blocks, and 2.3 assists per game in three games last week for the Ephs. The junior finished with game-highs of 33 points, 13 rebounds, and a career-high five blocks at Amherst on Friday. On Saturday, Gerig dropped 21 points at Hamilton, going 13-of-16 from the foul line. In a 70-53 win at WPI on Tuesday, Gerig totaled 10 points, eight rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks.
