Every Tuesday throughout the swimming & diving season, the NESCAC Performers of the Week will be announced. The men's swimming & diving performer of the week and honor roll performers for January 23 are listed below.
NESCAC Men's Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week
Evan Lyons – Conn. College – Fy. – Longmeadow, Mass.
Lyons posted a lifetime best time of 16:00.21 to win the mile against Williams. The rookie also recorded a time of 2:13.2 for another lifetime best in the 200 breaststroke.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Bowdoin –
Rhys Edwards (Los Gatos, Calif.) had a great day of racing against the University of Maine. The junior swam a lifetime best by three seconds to win the 200 butterfly (1:53.35) then swam a lifetime best in the 50 butterfly (23.39) and finally led off a 200 freestyle relay with a split of 21.67.
Trinity –
Matthew Brown (Beverly, Mass.) has made the switch from distance events to IM and stroke events this season and it is paying off. On Saturday against Wheaton, Brown won both of his events in the 200 butterfly (1:56.08 - just .5 off his best time) and the 200 IM (1:58.50). The junior also scored points for the Bantams against Wesleyan winning the 400 IM (4:16.88) and coming in second in both the 200 freestyle (1:46.63) and the 100 backstroke (53.64). Brown’s versatility has been vital to the team's overall success this year.
Wesleyan – Sophomore
Daniel Isman (Arlington, Va.) showed his breaststroke strength placing second in both the 200 breaststroke and 200 IM against Springfield College and Roger Williams on Saturday. Isman posted unsuited best times in both events going 2:12 in the 200 breaststroke and 2:04 in the IM.
Williams - Ryan Nunez (Merrick, NY) was one of the driving forces behind the Ephs’ wins last weekend. Nunez showcased his versatility by participating in the 200 medley relay, 200 butterfly, and 500 freestyle, and contributing as a key leg in the winning 200 freestyle relay. Nunez kicked off the day with a 50 butterfly split of 22.60 in the 200 medley relay. The newcomer conquered the 200 butterfly, clocking a time of 1:52.01. In the 500 freestyle, Nunez achieved an in-season best time, touching the wall at 4:36.97, and wrapped up his performance by showing off his speed in his leg of the 200 freestyle relay with a split of 21.26.
