NESCAC Player of the Week
Claire McGennis – Hamilton – Sr. – F – Buffalo, N.Y.
McGennis helped lift the Continentals to a weekend sweep at Williams. McGennis scored with 52 seconds left in the sudden-victory overtime period for a 1-0 win on Friday and tallied the go-ahead goal with 4:38 remaining in the third period of a 3-2 victory on Saturday. The senior forward is tied for the NESCAC lead with nine goals this season.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst –
Maeve Reynolds (Plymouth, Mass.) had one assist in each game as the Mammoths went 2-0 by sweeping Connecticut College, 3-0 and 2-1, last weekend. The sophomore forward assisted on the game-winning goal in the 3-0 win and had the assist on the game-tying goal in the second game.
Bowdoin – Sophomore
Anyi Sun (St. Louis, Mo.) scored the game-winner in overtime as the Polar Bears defeated Wesleyan on Friday evening, 4-3.
Colby -
Breanna Studley (Beverly, Mass.) scored the equalizer Friday night in a 1-1 tie versus Middlebury. After the Panthers jumped ahead in the opening period, the sophomore tallied her fourth goal of the year in the second period to level the score in the NESCAC matchup.
Conn. College - Sophomore goaltender
Devon Galizio (Wayland, Mass.) continued her strong season in net, as Conn College battled hard in both games last weekend against Amherst. On Friday night, the sophomore stopped 28 of 29 shots faced, keeping the Camels in the contest, before following that up with 28 more saves in a 2-1 setback on Saturday. Galizio finished the weekend stopping 56 of 59 shots faced, with a 1.55 goals against average and a .949 save percentage.
Middlebury – Sophomore
Sophia Will (Lancaster, N.Y.) played a critical role in Middlebury’s 2-0 victory over Colby on Saturday. The netminder recorded a season-best 36 saves in goal, including 16 stops in the third period. The shutout was her third of the season and she ranks among the top five goaltenders in the NESCAC with a 1.37 goals-against average.
Trinity – Rookie
Marta Mazzocchi (Saint Christophe, Italy) led the Bantams with a team-high three goals and an assist in a pair of non-conference victories. Mazzocchi netted a goal in a 3-0 win over Plymouth State and scored a pair of goals with an assist in a 5-2 win over Suffolk.
Wesleyan –
Jenna Stevens (Avon, Conn.) led the Cardinals with four points on two goals and two assists while sporting a +3 plus/minus rating as Wesleyan won twice in three games last week. Stevens either scored or assisted on all three Cardinals goals in Saturday's 3-1 win over Bowdoin at home, registering a career-high three points.
Williams – Sophomore
Erin Pye (Third Lake, Ill.) stopped 100 of the 104 shots she faced in a two-game series versus Hamilton last weekend. Pye made a career-high 58 saves and only allowed one goal in a 1-0 loss to the Continentals on Friday and posted 42 stops on Saturday.
