Elsi Aires - Tufts - So. - Forward - Westborough, Mass

Aires tallied three goals and an assist in a pair of wins for the Jumbos. Aires scored a goal on four shots in 44 minutes of action in a victory at Emerson to begin the season and added two goals and an assist at Connecticut College. The sophomore notched the eventual game-winning goal in the 4-3 victory. 

NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst - Junior Fiona Bernet (Los Angeles, Calif.) scored two goals in a 2-0-1 week for the Mammoths. The defender notched her first goal in the season-opening win at Lesley (6-0) and scored again in a 2-2 tie with Middlebury in the conference opener. Bernet also played an instrumental role in helping the Mammoths post two shutouts in three games last week. In 18 games last season, Bernet tallied one brace. 

Bates - Junior Ruby Reimann (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) did not allow a goal in 160:32 minutes between the pipes over three matches in a 1-1-1 week for Bates. Reimann helped the Bobcats record their first shutout against Bowdoin since 2005. Reimann made five saves for the week, including three against Emerson, and earned the win in a 6-0 shutout of Husson.

Bowdoin - Sophomore goalkeeper Charlotte Iannone (East Williston, N.Y.) and the Polar Bear defense did not allow a goal in the opening week of play, going 1-0-1. Iannone made four saves in the two games.

ColbyPepper Joseph (Hanover, N.H.) scored the first goal of the 2023 season for the Mules and the senior’s first-career goal in an opening-day 1-0 victory over Husson.

Connecticut College - Senior defender Kristyn Moran (Hingham, Mass.) recorded five points on one goal and three assists, as the Connecticut College women's soccer team began the year at 1-1. In the season-opening 6-0 win over the University of Saint Joseph (CT), Moran notched two assists, including a helper on the opening goal, which proved to be the game-winner, before adding a second assist off a corner kick to extend the Camels’ lead to 3-0. In the NESCAC opener against Tufts, with Conn. trailing 2-1, another Moran corner resulted in a goal to even the score at 2-2. Late in the contest, trailing by two, Moran’s free kick from near midfield found its way into the back of the net in the 83rd minute to close the margin to 4-3.

Hamilton - Senior Olivia Morrow (Forest Hills, N.Y.) scored in the 28th minute of a 1-1 tie against Trinity. Morrow has three career goals with the Continentals. Junior Clare Robinson (Philadelphia, Pa.) made 14 saves on 15 shots in goal in a pair of ties. Robinson made a career-high nine stops in the junior's first shutout for Hamilton in a 0-0 draw with Williams.

MiddleburyJoely Virzi (Cincinnati, Ohio) helped Middlebury to a 2-0-1 opening week, pacing the squad and tying for first in the conference with seven points (2G, 3A). Virzi tallied the initial game-tying goal in a critical 2-2 draw against Amherst. The senior recorded a single-game career-bests in points (5) and assists (3) in the Panthers’ season-opening victory over Plattsburgh State. 

Trinity - In a 0-1-2 week for the Bantams, sophomore Elena Lindonen’s (Boxford, Mass.) goal in the 84th minute off a feed from senior Gabby Grattan (Milton, Mass.) secured a 1-1 draw in the conference opener at Hamilton.

WesleyanWaverly Meyers (Stamford, Conn.) led the Cardinals with goals in consecutive games in a pair of victories for Wesleyan as the Cardinals opened the 2023 season at 2-0. Meyers' first career goal stood as the game-winner in a 1-0 win at WPI in the season-opener. The sophomore followed up with another goal in a 3-0 NESCAC win at Colby. Meyers opens the year with two goals in two games after not scoring a goal as a first-year last season. 

Williams - First-year defender Reece Willison’s (Simsbury, Conn.) first collegiate goal with 13 seconds remaining in regulation lifted Williams to a 2-1 triumph over Babson on Day 2 of the Manchester College Cup at Applejack Stadium in Manchester Center, Vt. The Ephs stand at 2-0-1 to start the 2023 campaign.
