Top Four Seeds Advance in NESCAC Women's Ice Hockey Championship

HADLEY, Mass. - For the second year in a row, the top four seeds in the NESCAC Women's Ice Hockey Championship have advanced to the semifinal round. Top-seeded Amherst will host the semifinals and final on March 3 & 4 at Orr Rink. Ticket information will be announced on Tuesday (Feb. 28) afternoon.

No. 1 Amherst def. No. 8 Wesleyan, 2-0 | Box Score
  • Records: Amherst (22-3-0) / Wesleyan (9-15-1)
  • After a scoreless first period, the Mammoths took a 1-0 lead at 14:07 of the middle frame on a goal by Avery Flynn. Carley Daly and Marie-Eve Marleau set up Flynn to pick up the assists on the goal.
  • Rylee Glennon doubled Amherst's lead, finishing off an assist from Maeve Reynolds, at 18:39 of the third period to close out the game.
  • Amherst held a 33-20 advantage in shots.
  • Natalie Stott was credited with 20 saves in the Amherst net while Rei Halloran made 31 stops for Wesleyan.
  • Amherst moves into the semifinal round for the eighth tournament in a row and the 15th time in 16 years. The Mammoths will host the remaining rounds of the championship for the first time since 2010.

  • Records: Hamilton (19-4-2) / Williams (11-12-1)
  • Hamilton's Abby Smith broke a 1-1 tie at the 18:59 mark and Hyla Mosher added an insurance goal at 19:09 of the third period to propel the Continentals past No. 7 Williams, 3-1.
  • Maura Holden gave Hamilton a 1-0 lead five minutes into the contest.
  • The Continentals carried the one-goal advantage into the third period as neither team was able to find the back of the net in the second frame.
  • Leah Rubinshteyn pulled the Ephs even at the 6:44 mark of the final period. Rubinshteyn finished off assists from Ella Chiang and Page Galle to knot the game up, 1-1.
  • Smith netted the game-winner in the closing minutes before Mosher pushed Hamilton's lead to two goals in the waning seconds of the contest.
  • Evie Sheridan made 22 stops for Hamilton to pick up the win. Erin Pye made 30 saves in the Ephs' net.
  • Hamilton advances to the NESCAC Semifinals for the fourth year in a row and will face No. 3 Colby.

  • Records: Colby (17-6-0) / Trinity (12-11-1)
  • Meg Rittenhouse scored a power-play goal midway through the second overtime period to lift No. 3 Colby past No. 6 Trinity, 2-1.
  • After two scoreless periods, Trinity's Ethel Wihelmsson converted a power-play opportunity with her team-leading eighth goal of the season to give the Bantams a 1-0 edge.
  • Colby tied the game at 1-1 on a goal off the stick of Beth Sinson at the 12:56 mark.
  • Neither team was able to net the go-ahead goal in the final eight minutes of regulation or the first 20-minute overtime period.
  • Rittenhouse's game-winner was her fourth of the year and her 17th goal of the season.
  • The victory was the Mules' 17th of the year, setting a new school record for most wins in a season.
  • Colby advances to the NESCAC Semifinals for the third year in a row and will play No. 2 Hamilton.

  • Records: Middlebury (16-6-3) / Conn. College (12-12-1)
  • The Middlebury Panthers posted a 4-0 shutout victory over No. 5 Conn. College to advance to the NESCAC Semifinals for the eighth tournament in a row and the 20th time in program history.
  • The Panthers struck twice in the first period to take an early 2-0 lead. Cece Ziegler started the scoring for Middlebury with 4:29 left in the stanza. Sabrina Kim set up Ziegler for her second goal of the season. Maddie Bayard tapped in a rebound of Claudia Vira's shot on a power-play opportunity to push Middlebury's lead to 2-0.
  • Molly MacQueen's one-timer slipped past Conn. College goalie Abby Wieczorek at the 13:08 mark of the second period to increase the Panthers' lead to 3-0.
  • Avery McInerny closed out the scoring for Middlebury, redirecting Britt Nawrocki's shot for the final margin.
  • Sophia Merageas made 22 saves for Middlebury while Wieczorek stopped 25 shots for the Camels.
  • The win over the Camels was Middlebury's 700th win as a program. Jenna Letterie eclipsed the 100-career point mark with three assists in the game.
