NESCAC Player of the Week
Kendall Harris - Hamilton - Fy. - Chapel Hill, N.C.
Harris averaged 19.5 points and 12.0 rebounds in two wins. Harris made three free throws with 1.2 seconds left and lifted the Continentals to a 64-63 victory at Rochester. The first-year guard finished with 22 points and 10 boards and went 8-for-9 at the free-throw line. Harris posted 17 points, 14 rebounds, three steals and two assists in a 69-54 triumph against SUNY Brockport.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst –
Abbey Skinner (Danvers, Mass.) scored eight points and five rebounds in a 61-16 victory over SUNY Poly last week, the Mammoths’ only game of the week. The senior shot 3-for-6 from the floor, including 2-for-4 from beyond the arc.
Bates –
Elsa Daulerio's (Harpswell, Maine) biggest game of a 2-1 week for the Bobcats came against rival Colby, as the sophomore scored a career-high 20 points on 9-of-15 shooting in a 55-54 win. She also grabbed eight rebounds and blocked four shots in the victory. Her bucket with 1:04 remaining in regulation proved to be the game-winner. She was also solid in games against Bowdoin and the University of New England, tallying six points, four rebounds, two assists, and two blocks against the Polar Bears and eight points and eight rebounds in a win over the Nor'easters. Daulerio sank a pair of free throws late in the game to secure the victory over UNE.
Bowdoin – Junior
Sydney Jones (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) continued her red-hot play, averaging 16.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.0 steals as the Polar Bears cruised to a 3-0 week. Jones was particularly outstanding against Bates on Monday, scoring 15 of her game-high 26 points in the second half of a 68-48 win.
Colby –
Kate Olenik (Medfield, Mass.) improved her season scoring average to 17.1 on the season with 18 points against Bates and a new career-high 24 against Stevens, extending her string of double-digit scoring performances to nine games. The first-year also collected 10 rebounds, four assists, and four steals across the two games and leads the conference with 28 steals.
Conn. College -
Avery Burns (Orleans, Mass.) averaged a team-high 7.3 points per game last week as the Camels went 1-2 in non-league action. The sophomore made a pair of three-pointers and netted eight points in Conn's win over Mount Holyoke, which snapped a three-game losing skid. She also finished with eight points in a clash at Division I Holy Cross and six points against Coast Guard.
Middlebury –
Alexa Mustafaj (Yonkers, N.Y.) poured in a game-high 27 points on Wednesday night, leading Middlebury to a commanding 73-42 victory over Plattsburgh State. The junior was a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe, pushing her streak to 34 consecutive free throws over the last six games. Mustafaj is tied for first in the NESCAC, averaging 23.9 points per game.
Trinity –
Reilly Campbell (Wallingford, Conn.) matched the Trinity single-game record for fourth-most points in a game with 34 points and 14 rebounds against MIT. The senior added a game-high 11 rebounds and eight points against Roger Williams.
Wesleyan –
Olivia Quinn (Franklin, Mass.) averaged 17.0 points on 50 percent shooting from three to go along with 8.0 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and 2.0 assists per game. The sophomore started the week with 16 points (6-12 FG), five rebounds, and two assists on Wednesday in a loss at Albertus Magnus. Quinn followed with 18 points, 11 rebounds, two blocks, and two assists in 37 minutes as the Cardinals landed a big 70-62 win at Williams, defeating the Ephs for just the second time in Williamstown since 2002. The double-double was Quinn's third in the past five games.
Williams –
Arianna Gerig (Westport, Conn.) averaged 31.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 0.5 blocks in a pair of games this past week for the Ephs. She shot a combined 27 of 53 from the field (50.9%). The junior scored the most points in a single game in program history with 43 Wednesday evening at Smith. She shot 17 of 29 from the field (58.6%) and 8 of 10 from the free-throw line (80.0%), with a team-high nine rebounds. She then dropped game-highs of 20 points and five assists, to go along with nine rebounds, against visiting Wesleyan Saturday.
