NESCAC Women's Basketball Weekly Release - Nov. 13, 2023

NESCAC Player of the Week
Arianna Gerig – Williams – Jr. – G/F – Westport, Conn.
Gerig was three assists shy of a triple-double, posting game-highs of 32 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists, and two blocks in a 78-67 season-opening victory at the University of Hartford on Sunday. The junior shot 12-of-20 from the field and made eight free throws, to go along with two steals.
 
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Bowdoin – Junior Callie Godfrey (Cheshire, Conn.) had a team-high 17 points on 8-or-9 shooting from the field, and grabbed seven rebounds, as the Polar Bears sprinted past Springfield in their season-opener on Saturday, 73-46. 

Colby - First-year Kate Olenik (Medfield, Mass.) narrowly missed two double-doubles in her first collegiate games. The newcomer collected nine points and eight rebounds in a win in the opener against UMass Boston. The guard also led the Mules with 19 points and eight rebounds against SUNY Canton. Olenik also totaled eight steals, three assists, and one block in the two games.  

HamiltonTaylor Lambo (Watertown, Mass.) poured in 26 points, set career highs with 16 rebounds and five blocked shots, and added two steals in the Continentals' 65-47 win against Utica. Eleven of Lambo's boards were on the offensive glass for the eighth double-double of the sophomore's career. The forward was 10-of-16 from the field as Hamilton started the season 1-0.

Middlebury – Junior Kale Tornwini (Burlington, Vt.) posted career-highs in points (8) and rebounds (7) in the season-opener against Skidmore. The Panther posted a pair of blocks and had a steal for a solid all-around performance on opening day.

Tufts – Senior Maggie Russell (Morristown, N.J.) averaged 18.5 points and 9.0 rebounds as the Jumbos went 1-1 over the first two games. Against Rhode Island College, Russell tallied 18 points and 11 rebounds, adding two assists and a steal. On Sunday in a win over St. John Fisher, Russell finished with 19 points, seven boards, four assists, and two steals. 

Wesleyan – Named to the Courtyard by Marriott Classic All-Tournament Team, rookie Felicia Fongemie (Ashford, Conn.) burst onto the scene in her first career games as a Cardinal. Fongemie led Wesleyan in scoring in both games including 18 points (7-10 FG, 4-5 3FG) with six rebounds, three assists, and three blocks in a win over Rosemont before following up with 19 points (9-16 FG) against the University of New England.
