NESCAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Mikey Brady - Tufts – Sr. – F – Washington, D.C.
Brady scored three goals including both markers in a 2-0 win over Williams on Sunday to help the Jumbos earn a pair of conference victories. The senior started the weekend scoring on his only shot on goal in a 3-1 victory over Bates and netted both goals against the Ephs on the two shots he put on target in the 11th and 74th minute. The three goals were Brady’s first of the season to go with four assists in 2023.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst –
Mohammed Nuhu (Accra, Ghana) scored both goals in the Mammoths' only game of the week, a 2-1 victory over Montclair State. It was the first multi-goal game of Nuhu’s collegiate career. The rookie has four goals and two assists this season.
Bates –
Tife Agunloye (Monroe, Conn.) scored his third goal of the season and first in NESCAC action this year at Tufts on Saturday. The junior forward was efficient, turning his one shooting opportunity of the afternoon into a goal for the Bobcats. Agunloye leads Bates in goals (3) and in points (7).
Bowdoin – Senior goaltender
Grant Griesman (Arlington, Mass.) made a pair of saves as Bowdoin played to a scoreless draw at Hamilton.
Colby -
Brendan McCarthy (Northborough, Mass.) tallied six saves, including defending all the first-half shots and corner Connecticut College registered, in Saturday's setback to the unbeaten Camels. The junior ranks fourth in the NESCAC with 3.70 saves per game.
Conn. College - Senior forward
Matt Scoffone (Thornton, Pa.) tallied two goals in a 2-0-1 week for the Camels as they remain unbeaten in the NESCAC (4-0-4). Against neighboring Coast Guard, the senior opened the scoring in the 26th minute on a penalty kick to help Conn. College post a 3-0 victory. In NESCAC play versus Colby, Scoffone netted the second goal of the game in the 55th minute as the Camels earned another 3-0 triumph.
Hamilton – Senior
Kai Haesslein (Rye, N.Y.) made a career-high eight saves in a 0-0 tie with Bowdoin – the lone match of the week for the Continentals. It is the fourth straight clean sheet for Haesslein, who hasn't allowed a goal in more than 375 minutes.
Middlebury –
Ryan Grady (Deerfield, Ill.) tallied eight saves over three contests last week, helping Middlebury continue its best start to the season in over two decades (9-0-3). In a matchup against Connecticut College on Sunday, Grady made three critical saves in the second half to preserve Middlebury’s unbeaten streak with a 1-1 draw. The senior recorded a pair of shutouts to increase his program record to 36 career clean sheets. Grady sits atop the NESCAC rankings in goals against average (.627), saves (46), and is tied for first with seven shutouts.
Trinity – Sophomore
Kieran McCabe (Natick, Mass.) netted a pair of goals for the Bantams in a 6-0 non-conference win at the University of Hartford.
Wesleyan – Junior
Zack Burd (Austin, Texas) scored on a free kick in the 25th minute as Wesleyan earned a 1-0 road win over Williams, securing the program's first win over the Ephs in Williamstown since 2010. The goal, which is Burd's second in three games, secured a split of the Little Three title for the Cardinals. Wesleyan earns at least a share of the trophy for the first time since the Cardinals won the title outright in 2011.
Williams – Senior
Michael Davis (Chicago, Ill.) made one save and did not allow a single goal in 37 minutes of relief action in a 1-0 setback to visiting Wesleyan Saturday.
