WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – While Nate Hoey is stepping down from his role as head coach of Williams Women's Track & Field at the conclusion of this indoor season, he will not be leaving Williams. Hoey is moving on to the position of Senior Development Officer in the Office of College Relations.
Hoey joined the Williams Athletic Department in June of 2013 as the head coach of Women's Track & Field and has fashioned a stellar coaching resume at Williams in his 10 years as the Eph head coach.
"This is a bittersweet moment for me after 23 years, I am stepping down from coaching," stated Hoey. "I am sad to be leaving this incredible team, group of coaches and department. While I am resigning my position and retiring from coaching… I am simultaneously looking forward to spending more time with my family and the next steps of my career in helping impact Williams on a broader scale."
"I want to thank Athletic Director Lisa Melendy for allowing me the amazing opportunity to lead the Williams Women's Track & Field team for the past 10 years," added Hoey. "It's been the ride of a lifetime. I am thankful for all the incredible students who I have had the privilege to work with and for allowing me to be a small part of their experience. I am forever an Eph superfan and will be cheering loudly from the sidelines."
Lisa Melendy stated, "While we are sad to lose Nate from our coaching ranks, we are grateful he will be remaining a part of our Williams community. He has been a pleasure to work with, an outstanding coach who has created enriching experiences and lifelong memories for the student athletes he has coached. His positive attitude has buoyed students and colleagues alike."
"Coach Brandon Gruver will take over the Head Coaching responsibilities for the outdoor season and former Assistant Coach Marisa Turner will return to support event coaching, added Melendy. "I am grateful to both of them for their willingness to take on these roles. A national search will begin later this spring."
