HADLEY, Mass. – The New England Small College Athletic Conference announced its award recipients for the 2022 season following the NESCAC Track & Field Championship held on April 30 at Hamilton College.
Women's Sabasteanski Award (Most Outstanding Performer): Malissa Lindsey, Conn. College
Women's Most Outstanding Rookie: Eliza Cardwell, Amherst
Women's Coaching Staff of the Year: Middlebury
Connecticut College sprinter Malissa Lindsey was selected as the Women’s Most Outstanding Performer. She won the NESCAC title in the 100 and 200-meter races and was a member of the winning 4x100 relay squad. Lindsey finished the meet scoring 20 points for the Camels.
Amherst first-year Eliza Cardwell was voted as the NESCAC Women’s Most Outstanding Rookie. Cardwell is the third Mammoth to garner the honor, joining Shauneen Garrahan (2004) and Karen Blake (2014). She scored 25 points for Amherst at the NESCAC Championship meet and set a NESCAC record in the 100-meter hurdles while also placing first in the 400-meter hurdles.
The Middlebury women’s track & field coaching staff, led by Martin Beatty, was voted the NESCAC Women’s Track & Field Coaching Staff of the Year by their peers for the fourth time. The Panthers won the NESCAC title for the third time overall and the first time since 2000.
The top three finishers in each event and the top three relay teams at the championship meet earned All-NESCAC honors,
