ORLANDO, Fla. – The NCAA Men's Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships began on Friday, May 27 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.

In the men's singles competition, all five NESCAC players advanced out of the opening round to reach the Round of 16. In the second round, Tufts' Isaac Gorelik topped No. 1 seed Christian Alshon of the University of Chicago, 6-7 (2), 7-5, 6-3 to reach the quarterfinals. Gorelik will take on Tim Cianciola of Denison in the Elite 8 on Saturday.
 
Joining Gorelik in the quarterfinals will be Wesleyan's Peter Anker who earned wins over Will Leach (George Fox) in the first round (6-0, 6-2) and Hunter Bajoit (Southwestern), 6-0, 6-2, in the Round of 16. Anker will face Vishnu Joshi of Johns Hopkins on Saturday.
 
Middlebury's Stan Morris, the No. 2 overall seed, defeated Nyathi Motlojoa of Luther (6-3, 6-3) in the first round and Aidan Drover-Mattinen of RPI (6-2, 3-6, 7-5) in the second round. Morris will face No. 6-seeded Jhonny Acosta of North Carolina Wesleyan in the quarterfinals.
 
Morris and doubles partner David Vilys dropped a 6-4, 7-6 decision to the Trinity (TX) duo of Hao Nguyen/Christian Settles in the first round of the doubles championship. The Tufts tandem of Josh Belandres/Rishabh Sharda fell to Moses Hutchinson/Andrew Watson of Mary Washington, 7-6, 6-0 to bow out of the doubles competition. Williams' teammates Chase Cohen/Matt Kandel advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Keegan Morris/Olof Persson of Stevens. The Ephs' duo will play the No. 2-seeded team of James Hopper/Jonathan Powell of Case Western Reserve in the next round.
