Baseball Player of the Week
Colin Mann, Trinity
Mann batted .545 in five games (12-for-22) with three doubles, a home run, a walk, three runs, and seven RBI, as the Bantams opened the year with a 3-2 mark. He was 3-for-5 with a grand slam in an 11-5 win against Mount St. Vincent, and 5-for-5 in a loss to Brandeis. He went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI in a 10-9 victory over Johns Hopkins on Sunday.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Jacob Ribitzki, Amherst
Ribitzki threw eight full innings on only 98 pitches in a 9-1 win over Rowan. He shutout the Profs until the seventh inning. He allowed five hits and two walks while striking out one. Of his 24 outs record, 17 were of the fly-ball variety as he improved to 2-0 on the season.
Softball Player of the Week
Noelle Ruschil, Middlebury
Ruschil helped Middlebury post three wins in the Panthers’ season-opening weekend. She recorded five runs on six hits including a pair of doubles, two homers, and a triple. Ruschil averaged .667 at the plate, slugging 1.778, and tallied nine RBI.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Natalie Beebe, Hamilton
Beebe allowed two earned runs in 28 innings (0.50 ERA) and went 5-0 with two saves in eight appearances in the circle. She struck out 34 batters with no walks and only gave up six extra-base hits. She posted her first career shutout as she fanned eight batters in a 3-0 win over Wisconsin-Platteville. The Continentals went 7-1 during the week.
Men's Lacrosse Co-Players of the Week
Donal Mullane, Bowdoin
Mullane totaled 12 goals and five assists in a 3-0 week for Bowdoin. He scored five goals in a 15-14 win at Hamilton, tallied two goals and four assists at Skidmore, and capped the week with another five-goal performance in a 17-13 win against Williams. Mullane leads the Polar Bears with 18 goals and nine assists on the year. The unbeaten Polar Bears are off to their best start since 2004 after three wins last week.
Nicholas Kopp, Amherst
Kopp led Amherst in neutral-site wins over Bates, 22-10, and Gettysburg, 18-14. In total, he had one goal and two assists, 24 ground balls, and won 40 of the 57 faceoffs he took (70 percent). Against Gettysburg, Kopp won 27 of 36 faceoffs (75 percent) and had 14 ground balls.
Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week
Sophia Sudano, Bowdoin
Sudano totaled 15 goals in three games, along with three assists. After scoring five goals to upset Catholic on Wednesday, Sudano scored six goals and two assists in a NESCAC win at Williams on Saturday. She capped the week with a four-goal, one-assist performance in a victory over Westfield State.
